I just finished playing Crysis for an hour. I used the EVGA Precision tool to monitor my in-game temps. The GPU maxed out at 78C. Most of the time it was between 77-78. It did reach 79C for a few seconds but went back down to 77 or 78C. I have the fan on auto. As soon as I closed the game, the fans went off and the temps dropped fast. Also, when a map would load, the fans would go off until the game returned. I'm hoping these temps. are safe. I didn't notice any artifacts, but the screen did flicker in certain areas. That usually happens when all the drop ships come in during the harbor scene.

On cool days my overclocked GTX 280 runs fan at only 60% and keeps temps around 86 C , it did go to 100% on very hot day and temps were about 85 C , so my guess is ~80 C is perfectly normal operational temperature.
under 100c shouldn't cause any harm
