What is the best (most stable) 790i motherboard....or is there such a thing? All I read about is problems.....Evga seems decent and 100 bucks less than the Striker Extreme.

Asus has great ideas and designs, features, but very poor quality control which is why half or more of the mobos made are bad.

Been buying them a long time.
IMHO, there is not any SLi mobo out that works as it's supposed too.

Yes, some peeps get a good board, are good builders, match up other parts that work with the mobo and do okay, but it's rare.
And add VisDuh to the mix and you have a whole other load of issues.

about all i would choose from, but still trying to work out my ASSus Striker ll Formula until i just say screw it and be in your boat as well.

I would go with Evga, they have by far the best tech support, I have one of their 790is and I love it (lee63)

Just like to place my vote for XFX. I'm very pleased with my board.

Thanks for the feedback. In reading reviews of 790i mobo owners - they seem to vary wildly. I have been happy with my XFX video boards, but have never tried an XFX or EVGA mobo. I have always used ASUS or MSI.

I don't think the MSI P7N2 is in stock anywhere yet.......not that it will be magical anyway.

Thanks again.

Surely dont try to get cheapest one with crappy looking cooling on northbridge and southbridge, surely NOT MSI. EVGA cooling look solid, so i would take that.

After some 2,700 posts, I thought you would know better than to post things like this.

Stay away from ASUS! Go with EVGA, Gigabyte or MSI. My vote would be EVGA overall.

I concur, stay away from Asus. Unless you like the "CPU INIT" errors that are a "feature" of all Asus Extreme boards... :headexplode: What's weird though, all of my Asus Intel boards are great. I don't know what the **** they get wrong with their nForce boards. When I was searching around all I found was problems with their nForce boards, the P5N-T, the P5N-D, the Striker Extreme, the Striker II Formula, even the newest S2 Extreme has problems... And apparently, some of them have found the way to their Maximus Series for Intel... I reckon they should just stick to reference boards...

P5B Deluxe is one of the best boards I've ever owned. Period.

Same. All my new mobos from now on are going to be Asus on Intel chipsets. I pray Nvidia allow sli on Intel chipsets soon.

The difference is the P5B is an Intel board... :) All of my Asus Intel boards have been great as well. Can't say the same for my nForce boards...

I can't for the life of me see why so many have problems with Nvidia chipsets. This is my forth board after having Nforce4 DFI, then XFX680i, XFX780i and now XFX790i. I haven't had any problems that haven't been fixed by an updated bios. Even then they where only small issues.

I have used ASUS for 13 years and only RMAed 1 board. Thats pretty good statistics IMO.

Well, Asus seem to have been making "bubus" with their latter nForce boards. I've read about problems with their 680,780,750 and 790 boards... My A8N worked fine too... My Intel boards have always been Asus. I'm not going for an nForce board by Asus, never again...
