Great, great news, now GTX 280 has a more logical price. Sorry for all early adopters over here, but hey, now you can buy a second card cheaper

I'm pretty sure anyone who has had them for a few weeks already wasn't concerned about the money. :p

I still can't afford that. However, the GTX 280 is now a far better deal than it was.
The only problem is the amount of noise that card produce !!
.65nm is also obselete :thumbdwn:

Have you tested one to claim that? probably not so don't post this type of stuff unless you know what you are talking about. If you look around you will see that all the new ATI and Nvidia cards are running about the same temperatures at the same noise levels.
If I run my GTX260 with auto fanspeed I can't hear it over the CPU cooler fan (OCZ Vendetta).
You wouldn't know the difference between a .55nm and a .65nm die if you didn't read about it on the internet. The die size and technology matters more to the manufacturer to reduce costs than to the customer using the product.
And I'm not an Nvidia fanboy...

Glad someone spoke up, you beat me to it :)
You want heat and noise, head over here to my house, my 4870 will give you all you can handle ;)
In fact after 2 days, I'll be happy when my step-up arrives to see if the new nv cards are this bad.

Thank you ATi :D
I see SLi in my future.
I got my GTX 260 in 2 days ago. Its as quiet as the 8800GT i'm replacing, after playing for 2 hours constant in AoC.
"as quiet as my 8800GT" = quieter than my already quiet case fan.
After experiencing my GTX 260, I'm very comfortable stating that if yours is loud, .... its broke.
.65nm is also obselete :thumbdwn:
Transister counts measured by the millions is obsolete.

That's nice to hear :) This 4870 isn't a bad card, but it is a lot hotter and noisier than my 9800GTX. And I really haven't seen a huge difference in either quality or FPS wise in the 2 games I am currently playing.
Come on EVGA, I'm ready lol!

You are making me sad, my computer as it is right now is almost inaudible, often I have to check that it is on with my 8800GT + Accellero S1
I am guessing it wont fit on the 4870 which I wanted to get, and I cant stand a noisy PC.
Geez everbody here are Nvidia fanboys !! Incredible the amount of ....
First I have the HD 4870 and previously I had the 8800GTX and also the Ultra...
8800GTX was the most silent card I ever had with the 7900GTX.
4870 is silent most of the time, you cannot hear the fan until temp reach over 84 and it never happened but with fur benchmark.
So I don't have to look around I have the card..I can hear and test it. You should look around dude, all reviews mention the GTX280 to be very noisy and the ATI to be quiet.
My friend has the GTX280 and it's a jet engine when it start....
And yes .65nm process is obselete (not the video card). Don't take my words, Nvidia will make the switch sooner than later.
