Yesterday the NBA said to Seattle "if you win this lawsuit and drag this out for two more years on the lease, you will never get a NBA team". As such the city of Seattle settled the best it could to keep the door open for another team to replace a well supported team for 41 years.

Now I am left with this in my mind. The NBA blackmailed us into giving up so we can maybe do "business" with them at a later time? I say F U David Stern. Keep your friking product out of our city. You ripped our team from us and piss on us, for what? You sent the former Sonics team from a large market to a vastly smaller market.

I watched the 78-79 championships. It was the first and only professional championship our state has had.

I know no one here cares but true basketball fans should. If the NBA can rip a solidly supported team like the Sonics from a large market then it shows the disloyalty of the NBA to its viewers.

R.I.P. Sonics. You were good to us.

Oklahoman and Clay Bennet can kiss my ass. I do hope your team sucks forever.

I put the Wheedle curse on you.

I know my basketball brothers in Portland cannot be happy about this either. Just think, the I-5 rivalry is gone. I never hated Portland but I did like to beat them in the NW match-ups. That being said I will not support the Trail Blazers, as I said I will not support the NBA.

Honestly, I don't care one bit. It is Seattle's fault that they did not offer what the other city did...Namely, a new arena...In the meantime they have built new stadiums/arenas for other sports...So I say good for the owner...

And so I don't look like I don't care because it's not "my city", I'm still pissed that LA won't offer up a decent stadium so we can attract a football team...Bottom line is teams will go where the most attractive deal is...Look at the Nets...They are likely going to Brooklyn if Jay Z get's his way...And he will likely have Lebron...Etc, etc, etc...\

**EDIT** Only part that bums me out is that when the Lakers beat that team (whatever they will be called), I can no longer sing "The Lakers beat the Supersonics" (from "Today was a Good Day" - Ice Cube)... :D

If you knew what the hell you were talking about it might, just might make your post seem important.

The more I read your post the more I am amazed that there isn't a IQ test for the internet. You don't know the back ground of what happened here yet you open your mouth with all the certainty of Solomon. Amazing!

While I would have loved for the Hornets to stay here, I'll support our new team as much as possible. Can't wait! I just hope the new name doesn't suck.

The Sonics and Sonic fans got totally raped on this deal. Looks like you'll have to join the good guys and be a Blazer fan with me, Stub. Might as well, they're 2 years away. (nana2)

sad day for Seattle...I hate when teams move...I know it's a business, but it still stinks:thumbdwn: At least the name and everything is staying in the city, instead of teams who wrongly take it with them. I'm sure your city will have a team soon.

noone cares about Seattle. This isn't nearly as big of news as when the Hornets went to New Orleans.

The same thing happened to the Browns/Ravens. Art Modell moved the browns out of Cleveland--and didn't even make an announcement first. It felt like someone kidnapped them, and was holding them for ransom. Now that they are back, this year, they will be better than they've ever been. ;)

I know how you feel though...

What are you talking about? You are comparing the Hornets to a team that has been in one city and WELL supported for 41 years? It is sad when any team is taken away from a city but to piss on a city in a stupid post like this after they were just trashed is moronic. This is much bigger news because of the history and length of time the Sonics were in Seattle.

No one cared that a expansion team that always sucked moved.

I won't support the Blazers. I won't support the NBA. The fact is there was nothing the city could have done to keep the Sonics here. Bennet's whole plan was to steal the Sonics from Seattle. He made demands backed up by his butt buddy Stern that they knew the city could not match. They knew it because two new stadiums had just been built. So what they did was take the 13th largest market team and moved it to the 28th largest market. Brilliant!
