GTX 280 vs SLI 8800GTX

Hey I was just wondering why no reviews really compare the 280 to 8800GTX's in SLI, it seems to me that they could beat them, or at least match them.

I have an EVGA 8800GTX ACS3 KO and I was considering selling and buying either a 260 or 280, but I think I might just wait until I find a matching card on ebay or something and then get that if the 8800GTX can indeed match the 280.


I think its kind of a waste to sell this card that I love and bought for $620 last year for a measly ~$200. My GTX can still play pretty much everything on the highest as everyone else who has one knows, there are no games that look to push the envelope... so I think the better option is to go SLI with a matching card. Especially if DX11 comes out in 2009 or 10, meaning these cards are obsolete anyways.

Well this question has already been answered a few times before, but I'm nice so I'll answer it again. 2 8800GTX cards are slightly faster than 1 GTX 280. Check the offical reviews thread as there should be some pictures posted and a few links.

If the card is already good enough for everything then there really isn't a need to upgrade.
