If a game is banned here Steam will refuse to lets us buy it in our region. You can get someone to gift it to you though.

Seriously though. This is getting out of hand. The damn OFLC is all over the shop. God of War is allowed, but Dark Sector gets banned... The reason? High res graphics. WTF?! GTAIV is censored, yet they recently allowed a 6 year old to feature nude on a magazine cover? The reason? It's art! **** you OFLC! **** you in your stupid arses!

That's what you get when you live in a country founded by pedophiles.

I don't say this often, but i take offence to that comment Jigen. And no, i'm not kidding.

That's a shame. It's a joke, completely not serious.

Maybe that's what bothers him. (nana2)

To be serious for just a moment. If there's something you don't like about the nation you live in, try to change things and make a difference. Just because your leaders are incompetent or corrupt shouldn't reflect upon you.

I believe me I'm trying. I've spoken about this issue in length to my local Member in Parliament (Insert CaptNKILL joke here) and he agrees fully, things need to change.

I believe we will soon get a R18+ rating in line with our films, I do not think it will change anything though, I believe the real core is the OFLC itself. As seen on Good Game on ABC2. Basically the reviewers actually feel a lot of banned games could have been sold under the MA15+, problem is they vote, send off the recommendation, then things happen and the higher ups just ban it.

Other than that game pricing needs to be reviewed here. The distributors and retail outlets here are not shy in saying they charge so much because "They can".

don't forget the garbage that they show here on tv...some of the shows are pg and yet you have kids getting stuck in drugs/sex/drinking...but virtual drugs is a NO NO...and the drug in question is morphine...

Look at MTV it's like "hoe wannabe". In germany there is no blood/sex.brutality in games but you can buy alcohol when you 16 and no one even ask where this kid bought a gun but it's everything games fault. Not to mention granny porns on TV after 22.

maybe we should market the game as a virtual reality tv show. It'd be everywhere.

The key is art. When the politicians see games as an art form as they see all other media then we will be free! It's this stupid games = kids we must protect mentality that's annoying.

We need to get the ratings sorted then enforce them, we do it already for films and magazines (books do not even have a classification system and anything goes). So it can't be too hard to tell places like EB, if you don't ID you pay the consequences, not the game devs anymore.

There are far worse problems here with kids than games for people to worry about. Of course..its easier to point/blame it on the games...

When games are art they can put nude 6 year olds in them.

Hopefully they don't ban it down here. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Speaking of stuff ups. Prime TV here was showing the local Rugby Union comp on the Telly. Half way through it switched to Hard Core Porn from the Sky Network (they own Prime) You want to hear the uproar atm. Didn't see it myself, but i've heard all about it.

I would have complained if they went back to the Rugby Union.

Buying from NZ used to be our easy way out, now it seems NZ follows suit with our censorship. ::(:

Still this whole Fallout ban thing is just a rumour now. I really cannot imagine them banning such a high profile game.

i think banning it completely for "drug use", for having the ability to use morphene as a pain killer in the game is a bit excessive. I mean... that's what morphene is for! Would they ban it if you could take panadol? They didn't ban max payne for that. Bit of a difference between taking a painkiller in the game to heal and smoking some ice and robbing someone or whatever it is they are afraid will happen.

Wow, I haven't read a whole lot on what games have been banned, what haven't, etc. but this seems to be getting out of hand.

Oh it's crazy here. Everything getting banned, games costing twice as much as they do elsewhere in the world. This is why I import almost everything, even PC games I import now (The ones I can't get cheap on Steam). On an $500 order to play-asia consisting of console games and accessories, I save around about $700-1000.
