Can anyone that owns this comment on it please, is it pretty cool or is it a gimick you tire of quickly.

Seems like it's mostly for Flight Simulator X or other MS Flight sims, how is it for racing games or even FPS?

How long does it take for them to provide drivers for new games, do they have one for GRID yet?

How's the build quality, how long has yours lasted?

Looks pretty cool, but quite pricey...

Thanks,

rh

As you said, it's pretty much at home in Flight Sims. There it works brilliantly and has a lot of dev and community support. For other games, it's not so good. Older driving sims supported it well, but do not expect to see support in newer arcade and ported racing games. FPS support of it there is almost non existent.

I've only had a go once (on a mates) but it was an awesome bit of kit. In fact i've just received mine this morning and I'm looking forward to setting it up tonight.

Here (http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/03-enhanced-games/enhanced-games-all.html) is a list of compatible games :)

It works with Grid?!? :captnkill:

Also, what's this 'vector expansion'?

When original TrackIR was released it only tracked your head movements in 2D, so it translated into a plain "mouse emulator". However vector expansions fully tracks all your head movements: pitch, yaw, lateral moving, back and forward... it's really awesome in the supported games, you get 6 degree of freedom.

Dirt worked really well, I'm not sure about Grid, but I don't think it's supported, otherwise it would be listed at TrackIR page.

aah. When I had a go on one it was about 2 months ago and everything worked perfectly with FSX in all dimensions. We did need to DL a driver to get it working on Vista 64 though.

New 1.2 patch (http://www.codemasters.co.uk/downloads/details.php?id=35357) for Race Driver Grid:

- Fix for sessions list overflow and missing characters in front end.
- Fix for errors generated on game shutdown
- Support for TrackIR
- Online experience points: more points awarded for completing longer races
- Assists on/off toggle added to session creation and browsing
- All offline events (apart from head-to-heads and touge) are now available online (event voting screen now scrolls to see additional championships).
- Fix for failure to recognise some devices in user-created action map presets, including Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2.
- Fixed GRID startup issue where it appears as a process in Task Manager but fails to run.
- Additional experience points are awarded for not colliding with other cars whilst racing damage on or forward sessions.

Hi Delbert, small world, i used to work in Bletchley, i live just down the road from you...he he.

Anyhow, i cant locate Track IR in the UK except for a few expensive flight sim stores.

If you find a good source post it up here please.

Thanks.

Hey guys. I got mine from here (http://www.sky-sim.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=36&osCsid=vhuirsqt8lqmt69rfmhfit5ne2). It's the cheapest I could find and the guy who runs the shop is a really nice, helpful fella.

Happy B'day for yesterday, Blade :)

BTW, I had a go with the TrackIR with Grid. Works really well, as long as you like the inside view.
