there are CF profiles but you can't change them, see them or make them.
really crappy if you ask me.
Agree, I really miss nHancer. I don't have Crossfire but I like to have custom AA & AF profiles for games. You can create those profiles at CCC and must activate them manually before launching the game, so the nVidia system is superior by far.
I will have to try ATI Tray Tools and RivaTuner for custom games profiles

Sold my GX2 and already bought a HIS 4870. Should be here in about two weeks...
I'm not playing anything lately and GX2 price will drop hard when new ATIs arrives Brazil... Sold for USD 750,00. Bought 4870 for 375,00 shipped.

MCThat's a great deal for used GX2 since you can get 2 NEW
HD 4870 for the same money if needed.
Way to go.

Well you can have a profile launch your game if you don't want to pre-activate but then all your game icons look the same. They all look like Red ATI icons just with the games name under them.
I think ATI should make their system slicker for sure for those that use game profiles. But I don't worry bout it too much.

Yes.
The Catalyst drivers are numbered by year and month.
Example, last month the driver was 8.6 this month driver is going to be 8.7
I'm sure ATI has to include the 4000 cards in the coming driver.
Question : At a res of 1680x1050,noAA, All very high settings , do you get any kind of hiccups/stuttering/hitches once in a while when playing Crysis on the 4870 ?

I am playing Crysis on the following settings and it is always consistant...
1680x1050 no AA
Textures HIGH
Shaders HIGH
Post Processing HIGH (to enable the natural in game AA which is good)
Water HIGH
Motion Blurr OFF because I think it's retarded. Having Blurr on and turning my head or rotating my view makes it seem like my guy has been hitting the pipe a little too hard. It's stupid.
The rest medium as they have little effect on how the game looks to me and I want to stay in the 50 fps and higher zone which it is doing.
Hitches? mmmm no.
When I FIRST installed this card overtop of the 8800GT? Without an OS install or Drivercleaner routine? Ya. I was getting all kinds of wierd crap going on. hitching, lurching, skipping. It was gay. 3DMARK06 was having intermittent lurches and skipping in the continuity of the frames as viewable by the naked eye versus what the actual score was telling me. I got fed up and reinstalled windows and it has been fine since.

Can you try playing all@very high & report back ?
my friend is so interested in that because we think the hiccups & hitching will show up when running everything at veryhigh @ a res of 1680x1050 & above.

I had the same experience with my 4850 and 3dMArk06. I reinstalled with Vista 32 this time and it's been great!

OK all high was smooth. Or as smooth as ~40 - 45 fps average can be. I was playing that level where you have to extract the chick from the school a that place surrounded by barbed wire. Aside from feeling how 40fps always feels, it was not hitching.
But really? Nothing "single GPU based" can play VERY HIGH properly. Hahahaha.
But I will try it just for giggles. I think the framerates will not be in what I would call "playable range".
GTX280 with an overclock maybe. But not these $300 cards.

At all VERY HIGH in about the worst place I could find?
20 - 25 fps occasionally touching the 30 fps point.
I gotta tell ya though. Other than feeling like 25 fps. It was not hitching. I wish there were a 1GB version for me to test for comparison. But alas. There is not.

The card can't handle DX10.0 all very high, same resolution with AA2x and AF8x...
It's good for money, but again essentially behind GTX280.

Just stuff the GTX280 trolling already.

It better damn well be behind the $500 GTX280!

No one is saying it should beat the 280, the card is $299 for cripes sake.
It's cheaper than the 260 and 280 and falls somewhere in between in performance.
That sounds like WIN to me.

You right.
Here he goes again. Last time he even called HD 4870 crap compared to 8800GTX running the Crysis. Just unbelievable what baloney he can come up with.

I did run the Crysis Bench Tool
At Res 1920x1080, All Quality High, AA16xQ the DX9 highest setting and was expecting big performance hit especially on my system.
BIG surprise this setting did actually run about 2 frames on avg faster than on AA4x setting.
Strange isn't it?
Did repeat both test 2 more times with same results.
Picture off the Crysis AA4x bench is on post #13 this tread.
Here is the picture of 16xQ test

Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with sports package is around $30,000, Chevy Cobalt SS is about $20,000. Cobalt has nice performance/price ratio but the bottom line is you still get what you paid for which means compare to Eclipse GT, Cobalt is crap. That's my point...
I will stop it there...:D

The point is you paid for your GTX 280 $650 and even NVIDIA did find out the card has a hard time to sell at that price with HD 4870 not so far behind in performance like you would like as to believe.
The other point why can you just be happy like others who either did buy one off the NVIDIA or ATI card, posting all this trolls sure doesn't show you're happy with the purchase.
Furthermore we all know (except you) that from ATI this is not the top card in this series and there is more to come. On other hand NVIDIA did come out with top card and can't improve much on it without shrinking it and that will take little time.
So if all the prediction are right ATI will have in few days top performance card, the sad story is,
we all will know except you.

I'm seriously thinking about getting a 4870, for a 260GTX I'm have to spend an extra $100 PLUS upgrade my PSU, the 4870 should be ok with my 550HE. Also to take into consideration my SLI motherboard.
On a side note, it's ****ing freezing here and my CPU is idling at 10C LOL.
