Which driver do you guys recommend for Age of Conan? I tried multiple ones and still get 15-30 sec freezes but I've learned to just ctrl-alt-del then go right back to the game and it unfreezes quicker.

With 177.40 it get weird shadowing artifacts. 177.41 don't install on my system. I have a 9800GTX.

So which version have you guys had the most success with in AoC?

I use 177.35

Havent had any problems.

I also used 175.16 no problems with them either

177.41 gave me BSODS for AoC occasionally

177.35 are working a little better and with the recent patch not getting as many lockups but still happens

175.16 is recommended for 7,8,9 series. I heard the older, 169.25 is decent, too.

176.19, the newest set, has problems in the Villa instances in Noble District, frame rates drop to 5-10fps. Avoid at all costs for AoC.

Of course, if you have a 200 series, you'll just use the 177.xx WHQL driver that Nvidia has.

177.x with g280 still have issues in the villas like the 176.19. The solution is to use shader model 2.0 in there.

I got the same here so I've gone to the .41 drivers and the problem is fixed (for now lol)

Im actually just using 169.25 drivers for AoC.

The 175.19-> drivers are screwed with shaders or something. You get extremly low FPS while doing Villa quests or running around in Cannibal cave. Seems like flares and flames and smoke and such is bugged with these drivers. You get like 3-4 FPS facing towards stuff like that.

So my suggestion is: 169.25 or 169.35

My question stands: which version for the g200 has NOT the shader model 3 BUG in the dungeons (mostly villas but other)?

For bug i mean fps drop from 80 (SM 2.0) to 15 (SM 3.0)

Anyone try the new 177.79 http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winvista_x64_177.79.html drivers on a 9800 GTX in Aoc?

They are supposely good in AoC they say. The shader 3.0 in villa fps drop should be better.

Confirmed, these are the best drivers that I have used with AoC
I'm not sure if it's just the drivers or a combo of these drvs and the weekly patches but so far, so good

Performance in the villas is still lower than with shader model 2.0 but good enough that it is playable on my system without changing settings (= extreme annoyance)

thumbs up

agreed, they fixed two problems I was having, with crashing, downclocking, and increased my FPS

Anybody tried even newer 177.x drivers?

I'm now using the 177.92 and I'm still getting good results in AoC. I can't say that they are any better, but they aren't any worse either ;)

Recently i'm getting pretty low fps in lacheish plains (but i wasnt used to go there often before -started crafting).

I wonder if the 178.13/15 would be any better (seems not).

177.92 is a very good AoC driver. I got odd slow downs occasionally with 177.79. Usually when I would first load an area. I briefly tried 178.13 and am getting ready to try .15. I haven't used them long enough to give real feedback.
