just got back from the store, GTX280 has been returned, got full refund of $650+tax. Everyone that bought the card for full price should return it. Soon the card will be most likelly at $400 dollars.

Is there a reason as to why you returned it? Driver issues? Overheating? 3d detection issues?

Or was it simply the price?

They let you return it? What did you tell them?

Didn't they buy CompUSA?

Huh. I wonder how long it would take Bigman to run the TigerDirect loop.

Anyway, good job getting your $650 back. Now you can get an R700!

Not before CompUSA closed most of its stores. IIRC, Tiger just purchased the name rights.

i might, need to see more reports, benchmarks, so far only few games have been benchmarked. plus idle temps are insane.

or i still might get GTX 280, would be hard to say goodbye to nHancer

Great, you can always go back and buy the GTX 280 at much better price plus you have many more options. Good move.

i know, if GTX 280 drops to about $400-440 area i will buy it again. if it stays at current official price of 499 and 4870x2 is 550, i might grab 4870x2.

but before i decide on 4870x2, i need to see more benchmarks from wider range of games, normal idle temp and much better crysis performance.

And Crossfire usability/stability across a wide range of games. Based on ATI's history, it may work great in one game but either require a new driver or not work at all in another.

(Yes, I know NVIDIA cards can have these problems, but they've been far, far less frequent in my experience having owned both brands of cards dating back to the GeForce2 MX and Radeon.)

You have the same option w/ the CCC or ATI Tray Tools.

care to provide screenshots, where you can set Multi-GPU: SFR, AFR, AFR2

multichip_rendering_mode" Value="0x0240440D"

or where you can set AA compability for games that have AA issues to force AA

Good for you got the full price refunded as Nvidia slashed GTX 280 price down to $449 yesterday as pricing compete with ATI now become very fierce.
