Yeah, you got a hell of a break man. In the next week or two the price will probably be down to $400 and you'll have saved $250 on a $650 purchase.

they actually have rebate form from EVGA, so they better ;)
You gonna get a cheaper GTX280 again or you buying the 4870X2?

depends, i really want to see more reviews
there so few things that i would miss out going ATI
1) not a big ATI driver fan
2) would miss nHancer
3) no SSAA
4) Multi-GPU, always more work then single card
5) can't really set Multi-GPU profiles in detail
6) no AA compability options for games that have AA issues
7) number 5 and 6 would have to wait month + for ATI to maybe add profile
8) 1gb buffer would probably cost me 550

I'm using a CRT so I tend to go to 2048x1536 in most games, and 1600x1200 in others. Crysis is the only recent game I can't play at 1600x1200 with the framerates I want.
If the 2Gb 4870x2 was $400 I'd give multi-GPU a try. :p

Not like mine. :p
A couple years ago I paid $150 shipped for one of the best CRTs ever made, as a refurb. 22", 2048x1536 @ 85Hz. I found one at another store for $900 brand new.
Its probably 5 years old now, but I still haven't found a reason to pay $600 for an LCD that has a lower max resolution and looks like crap at anything but that resolution.
If this thing ever dies on me I'll invest in a good LCD... or maybe I'll just bust out my old 19" NEC CRT. That thing will still do 2048x1536 @ 60Hz.

CRT at 60hz will make your eyes bleed

These are really damn tempting now. I'm just debating on when would be a good time to get one. I'm thinking the price slashes are getting close to being done now, but it would suprise me to see them hit $400 after a rebate. If the 55nm is supposed to be release Q3, then buying a card in about a week would allow the 90 days to be most of Q3.

I say GTX280 will hit $350 by end of July, and that's where it's going to stay.

Yeah, but you can also get the 4870x2 for $499...
If they hit $350. That is good, but the power supply requirements for 2 is way way way too much.
I would need to get a new power supply too. :(

I'd rather have GTX260 SLI...less headache.

How can you tell you moron, its not even released.
Nvidia needs a 280 GX2 with 2 gig's DDR5 and powersupply requirments for only 650Watts or less. Just 2 8 Pin Connectors.
