Make sure you have anti-aliasing & anisotropic filtering disabled under your advanced display properties. Also make sure you turn off any programs running in the background, that can REALLY make a difference.

Some questions:

What operating system do you have, which soundcard (oh, and if you have 3D sound going in SoF2 TURN IT OFF! ;) ), and what programs load up on boot for ya?

Oh, what driver version on your 5200 are you running?

and also definetely make sure you are using the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com

Yo Vanquish, you want to try and hit the "reply" button in the thread that you're trying to reply to...you accidently started a new thread which confused some people. ;)

I think he's replying to this thread where he's having trouble getting decent FPS out of SoF2 using his new FX (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=118921#post118921) and we were trying to help him improve it a bit.

Now what kind of FPS are you getting in SoF2? And what tweaks have you done to your XP install?

EDITED BITS: Got Vanquish's name spelled wrong, went back and fixed. :)

ahh I see, I'll attempt to merge the threads now, don't kill me if it goes wrong:eek:

Nicely done! :D

I could never figure out how to merge threads very well, I always seemed to link up the wrong ones and just confuse the hell out of people.

ok, i get around 70-80, but to me tis poor, cos in battle its goes to 30 and my dad has a gf2 and gets over 125 :S

what are the specs of your dads computer?

Are the results on the same settings etc. same resolution, color depth, os and drivers.

Its more than likely your Celeron cpu. Just cause it says 2GHz does not mean you can tax the cpu completely (ie. expect full performance). Your video card is top notch but the amount of stuff it gets to handle is purely determined by your CPU. If your CPU aint churnig out enough for the graphics card to crunch, your game performance will be choppy.

AMD 1.7ghz procesor, gf2, 19" monitor, Mine, is Celeron 2ghz processor, GF FX5200, 17" monitroe

I would say it is the 5200, pick yourself up a 9500 pro or a ti4200 for cheap. You should notice a huge increase:cool:

Well, ive put my ati 9000 in, havin truble tweaking it, and atm im looking for new cards, duno wot 2 get a MX440 8x, or a TI

No I think it is performing to its full potential but the problem you have is realising how s*** that card is, its the speed of mine(maybe slower, mx440\420) with dx9 support.

Lol your processor is the problem Celeron Sucks big time , it performs only half as Real Pentium4 so you have a 1Ghz CPU at best  your dads 1.7Ghz AMD Athlon is way better performer ;)
