I was waiting for a friend of mine last night and figured I'd run some 3DMark Vantage since it came free with my EVGA cards, and after I got the results, started to do some comparisons at work... and my CPU score was getting whollopped by everyone!

Did some reading, and while I AM using the 177.41 drivers, it appears I need to download additional drivers to get PhysX to run on the GPU, is that correct? If so, nVidia's site doesn't make that very clear :(

Also, when I upgrade video drivers, do I need to touch the PhysX drivers too, or are the entirely independent?

Thanks!

Yeah I wasnt awared of it when I installed Geforce driver, I thought it got build-in physx driver until I read other forums that someone download new Nvidia physx driver. I had old Ageia driver that rely on software, after installed new nvidia physx driver and selected the option to use hardware Geforce card.

If you look down a bit, you should see the topic: 177.39 + PhysX Driver, German! (http://nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=115079). Read a few posts in that topic and you should see some links there. :)

Like AthlonXP1800 said, you'll need to enable it through the PhysX tab after you install it to enable the feature.

So to answer your question, yes. You do need seperate software to enable PhysX acceleration for your card. It also depends on the card you have as well since only certain 8,9 series and the newer 2xx series support it. But you should be fine.

Thank you! The tab to enable PhysX acceleration is in the nVidia Control Panel or in the PhysX one? I have my old 8800GTX here at work, I'll see if it's supported and I can sort of sample things before getting home.

In the PhysX one. After you install it, you should see this:

Set it to Ageia PhysX.

It's all in the topic I linked in my previous post.

I think it is g92 and up only right now...don't know when or if g80 will be included, they said long ago it would be.

The G80 can use Physx right?

does this work on an 8800GT?

It only works on G92 and GT2XX cards. G80 is later on.

Just download the 177.35, 177.39, 177.66 or anything in between and it supports CUDA. AFAIK all the drivers above 177.35 have CUDA support. Then if you install the Physx software it should work.

I'm having trouble.

I've installed 177.39 and the System Tools (vista 64 for bfg GTX 280) and I can see and access the Physx Control Panel item (32 bitonly) but Info shows "No AGEIA Physx Processor installed".

I have no Physx.

Any ideas?

only if you have G92 or GT200 based card.

other card owners need to wait.
