Gainward 5900 Ultra (http://www.gainward.de/gwnewsite/gweurope/gwcontent/aaaa-C.jpg)

Looks cool, but I wonder how loud those 2 fans are.
You can get it with or without water cooling, cool fx.

Looks like a 1 slot card. Those fans aren't loud, they are maybe half an inch tall? Awsome design though.

I curious as to why a fan is not over the core. I just don't know what to think about that.

I'm a born again Gainward fan now, so I would definately consider their 5900 FX if'n I had money coming out my butt. :)

My leadtek gf4 has 2 fans of similar size to that. So it'll prolly be of similar sound levels.

My guess is, the heatsink will dissipate the heat either way, it's just a matter of driving it off of it. The two fans apart should do the job IMO.

Thats the 128 MB version of FX 5900? ( Yeah, i'm smart, looking at the box :D )
It's already available for preorder here and thats the version i'm gonna buy. 256 MB feels like overkill :o

Gainward GeForce FX 5900 128MB DDR 2.2ns
AGP, "Ultra/1200XP GS", Retail

That must be it right? Yup.. :D

In answer to Phyre's query.

Coolermaster have developed a new type of heatsink/fan for processors, the fan is on its side and cylindrical.
This solves the problem of the "blind spot" over the processor core where heat is not dissipated as efficiently. Exactly where it is most important. (bet someone has a good argument against that ;)

Blowing cool air across the heatsink fins or down onto the (as with the coolermaster fan) keeps a more even cooling area.

Hope this makes sense

I suppose some people think Alloy Wheels and Neon skirts look great on a battered old "souped up" car!!!

I think hardware looks great.
Only just got a windowed case,
Being able to see what makes that wonderful machine (that gives you so many hours of pleasure and pain) tick.....is great.

I remember a very early case mod, it was an Amiga 500 with a transparent lid. it looked extremely cool at the time (around 1990)

Each to their own I suppose :D

Your right thats the pic of the "low" end 5900 from gainward. At least the box is, so I assume the card matches the box. But with Gainward lately who knows.

The currency in Norway is called the Kroner right?

I'm assuming the prices include tax as well, so take that into account, but those cards are still expensive as hell over ther.

I did the conversions using the webprice at a site called xe.com...

5900 Ultra w/CoolFX
7,548 = $1,107.08 USD

5900 Ultra
5,728 = $840.14 USD

5900
4,454 = $653.26 USD

Also saw what looks like a dual chip 3DLabs Wildcat cardfor 22,381 = $3,282.05 USD
It says 128+256MB DDR, not sure if that means one chip has 128 megs and the other 256, but it sure is expensive as hell.

well MSRP of Nv35 is $499USD and msrp of CoolFX is rumored to be $150 so aprox 650$ usd pre tax

Looks like a good card, maybe the dual fans help cool the ram as well.
