OKLAHOMA CITY -- A source close to the NBA ownership group tells SportsXtra's Mark Rodgers the city's franchise, formerly known as the Seattle Supersonics, will be called the Oklahoma City Thunder.

More... (http://www.koco.com/sports/16925692/detail.html)

A lot of people that I have talked with pretty much thought it would be Thunder and also seem to be okay with the name. I also thought the name was pretty good and goes well with representing the weather in Oklahoma City. I mean, Spring Time in OKC can be rough sometimes. At least they didn't go with Oklahoma City Tornadoes or Twisters or some other goofy name. Thunder may not be the best, but what is? Could have been a hell of a lot worse, that's for sure!

Cue Thunderstruck by AC/DC

Stupid. I bet their logo will be the word thunder that looks like lightning. Dumb ass hicks. Thunder isn't lighting. Way to name your team after a sound.

I hope the team rots at the bottom of their division.

[Thunder may not be the best, but what is?
Seattle Super Sonics, their REAL name.

You have no idea how pissed everyone up here is. They hate the NBA, Clay Bennet, Howard Schultz (former owner who sold the team to that dick Bennet and the owner of Starbucks), the city council and Howard Stern.

What they did to a team that was well supported was terrible.

Dude, the same thing happened to the Browns when I was living in Cleveland. I was too pissed.

I remember that. It was a total crime. When I first heard the news I was like "wtf Browns had great support".

And the worst part is that they moved at night. Art Modell didn't even have the decency to announce that they were moving....he just did it.

He was a hated man there for many years.
