Hi, I want to buy this card, http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223831&criteria=Nvidia%C2%AE%20Geforce%208600GT%201GB%20P CI-E%20Graphics%20Card&doy=21m7 but it asks for a 6-pin power connector, my PSU doesnt have that but will the card run without it?

Yes, it does need it. But there is normally an adapter with the card. I would call Maplin to make sure, though.

Another thing, don't bother with the 1Gb version, it's a waste of money because it won't give you anything more in terms of performance. Just go with the 512mb version.

Welcome to the forum, mate :)

EDIT: I see the card with less memory is no cheaper, so you might as well go for the 1Gb version.

Yeah thats why I went with the 1GB because its on sale, I also saw on the website that it costs £4.99 for a 6-pin adapter in Maplin.... If only I had £5 more :'(

I'm pretty sure it'll come with one. Just double check to make sure.

You know they're available a crap load cheaper, don't ya? Unless you have to go to Maplin, I would go to Scan (http://www.scan.co.uk/Index.aspx?NT=1-0-17-296-0)

£42.14 inc. VAT for the 256mb version.

Or £38.07 inc VAT for CCL's own brand (http://www.cclonline.com/product-categories.asp?category_id=497)
