Is there a way in google earth to view the 'map' view like you can on google maps? or can you only view everything in the satellite imagery.

the reason i'm asking is because in google earth you can import addresses from a .csv file and plot them all at once but if it's only in satellite imagery then it's of no use to me.

so can you view the 'map' view or do you know of any other programs?

I don't have it installed right now but if I recall you can change it from the toolbar.

not that high or the clouds get in the way

There are probably lots of satellite pictures used but only the desert ones and the like ,not the ones where you can see cars and stuff.
