PCI-E 2 Card Going on a Mobo With PCI-E 1

Is there a big performance hit not having a mobo capable of PCI-E 2? Is it worth getting a new mobo? Installing new GTX 280 tonight. Mobo model is in my sig.

I have the DS3 as well with an E6300 and my GTX 260 scores as well on all comparable tests as the review sites

So were I to get a 4870x2 the numbers, frame-rates etc would be the same on both PCI-E 1 vs PCI-E 2.0 slots?
