Why do some review sites show the 5900 Ultra with hardly any capacitors and other sites show the huge card with alot of them? Also, I already parted with my TI4600 and forgot how long it was. The really big card is over 9 1/2" long.(close to 10") The FX 5800 Ultra looks small now.

The shorter card is the "final" retail PCB board the card will ship with...Nearly all review boards were a near-final sample...though the PCB is roughly an inch longer...

Well the card in the second picture is from a FX 5900 Ultra review. Here: http://www.hexus.net/review.php?review=554&page=4

Just check the pricetags, the 5900 FX is the REALLY ungodly expensive one. :)

I wonder what games will show the preformance gain more memory will help, it Tom's says the Doom III preview dosent show any preformance gain from it.

Just because a site used the first pic doesn't mean that's the actual card they got. Don't all the sites get a "review kit" with PR images of the card, chip, etc?

If it's any consolation GS, I've heard a rumor that the problem with the 9800 256MB is driver related and it just ain't accessing all it's memory yet. It should be fixed (well, they'll call it "improved" I'm sure  ) in the upcoming Catalyst release.

No no, Cat 3.2 dosent use extra memory as stated on Toms Hardware. But the 3.4 dose, as also stated by Toms HardWare. They also note that the 256mb version was held by nda for a while, then got 'rushed' so that is why their benches dont include the 3.4's for all tests, they said tey did not have enough time.

quit your trolling bertha

it's quite conspicuous.

Hopefully the 5900 will not be any longer than the g4s or the fx 5800.

My GeForce 5900 Ultra NVIDIA reference card is 24 cm long and looks like the black and silver one with all the capacitors in the second photo at the top of this thread.

EDIT:NV35_reference.jpg (http://gadzikowski.com/images/nv30/NV35_reference.jpg)

I hope that retail versions are shorter. This one forced me to pull out the motherboard tray of my office machine just to install it. While I didn't mind modding a Shuttle SFF for my NV30, I'll pass on the SFF NV35 mod...
