Revealed last month, NFS: Undercover will feature a very strong mission structure, influenced by the action movies The Transporter, and a better storyline with a strong narrative hook. A cinematic video on YouTube seems to show off the first footage from the new NFS installment, with the end showing a possible release date, Nov. 18, 2008. Also mentioned is a website which leads to an interactive page showing looping interrogation cam footage (featuring rumored NFS babe Christina Milan), with various clickable links showing extra content, although some won't be active until July 30 (thanks Attila).

So now the NFS series is going to be plot based? And they still aren't migrating away from this ricer crap?

I'll probably pass on this one, as I have all the recent and semi-recent NFS games.

Looks like NFS is & will be nothing more than ricer crap since after the MW :(

I thought they were going back to their roots? Certainly doesn't look like it from that trailer. Hopefully it is more like MW and less like NFSU

Now that I've found Codemasters and Grid, I can just hope that they continue to make great racing games and I can skip all the NFS's from now on.

Yeah I thought EA was going to take NFS back to its root but guess not. Maybe they were talking about NFS 10, not this one. Who knows.

But this does look pretty cool... still too early to say.

What do you mean NFS 10? This is the twelfth NFS game. Since I love the cheesy cutscenes and goofy drama of Most Wanted and Carbon I am very much looking forward to this. Since Grid and other racing games are more traditional this game has more of a place in the market than Pro Street had since it's not competing as another racing game of the same sort.

Er, I did got numbers wrong. Haha. I just looked at wiki on NFS series:

Need for Speed: Undercover (2008)
Need for Speed: Undercover is the next game in the Need for Speed franchise, confirmed by Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello, due by the end of the year. The game has a significantly longer development cycle than previous games.

EA Games president Frank Gibeau stated that due to the fact that the sales of ProStreet didn't live up to EA's hopes for the game, the franchise will go back to its "roots" with a number of features, including open-world racing and a new highway battle mode.

Guess this is one that is supposes to go back to its roots. This game is still too early to tell.

I'm curious about Need for Speed XIII in 2009.

problem that is not the roots, Open-World racing was never the roots of NFS series. That crap started with Underground.

When talking about Undercover, John Riccitiello, Electronic Arts CEO, also confirmed another Need for Speed title is under development.[4]

Why don't they just do expansions like they do for The Sims. Would be a whole lot easier.

Why do so when they can charge more for a fake full game ?

Despite all of the crappy storylines and their addiction for everything ricey, i still find NFS games rather fun to play.
