My rig is pretty well setup. There's always room for upgrades though. I have some extra cabbage. What to spend it on?

Massive hardware update?

Trip to Hawaii?

Pay NVNEWS site op to remove the damn ad banner that occupies and covers his own content on the site over 2/3 my screen everytime I enter a page?

2000 lotto tickets?

Help the starving childeren?

You should save it for Nehalem

for $2000,

2.93GHz Bloomfield ~$550
X58 mobo ~$250
4870X2/GT200b ~$500
3x2GB DDR3 ~$500
use the other $200 for w/e

It looks to me you have pretty good setup.
I would go for the trip to to Hawaii it might last longer than the hardware upgrade.
Maybe time to have some fun unless you can do both or upgrading is more fun.
At the same time you can start saving for the Westmere, the 32nm shrink of the Nehalem.
Estimated release Q4 2009, LGA 1567 socket means again new mobo.

PS
By the way I'm upgrading when the first Nehalem is out but my rig is much older plus the girlfriend will take me to Hawaii.:D

Looking at your specs, I'd save it.

A bit of overclocking for your CPU would give you plenty of power there (3Ghz would be easy), and its still going to be a few weeks or a month before we know what's going on with the high end graphics cards.

I'd set aside $500 of it for a graphics card upgrade in the next month or two and use the rest for something else, or just save it all for a full upgrade later on.
