I just found the cause of jerky mouse movement in Battlefield 2.

My Logitech mouse has a default update of 500 per second. Following a tip from some googled comment, I lowered it to 250 then 125. At 125, mouse movement is back to smooth. For some reason higher updates cause large jumps or jerky movement.

Very few games are effected this way but the cause surprised me as I thought more updates would always be better. The Logitech mouse software kindly allows games to be configured with independent settings.

Just thought I'd share this solution in case anyone else experiences the same problem.

Just wondering... what kind of mouse do you have and where do you change the update rate?

I have an MX518 and I don't know where to change that setting. I have DPI adjustments, but that's different and has a range of 400 to 1600.

It's a Logitech G9 and the SetPoint v500 allows the Report Rate to be set from the Pointer Options. It has rates 125, 200, 250, 333, 500, 1000, the default being 500.
