Just got a new rig assembled and am installing games again. I have been out of the Crysis loop for a few months. Can anybody refresh my memory on the built in benchmark? How to run it, which of the 2 or 3 to run, how to view the results, etc.

I hate not doing something for a while and forgetting everything.....

Thanks!

I think using the Crysis benchmark tool someone made makes it a lot easier, as it runs the same benchmarks, except it gives you better control over options and displays results well.

Am I supposed to actively take part?

Yeah, make sure you tap the "P" key really fast while the benchmark is going to increase your FPS. Also, tribal chants and animal sacrifices have been known to enhance the whole benchmarking experience. :D

Well in the program you see that you can choose how many times the demo should loop, so the same little demo runs that many times. And no, as with all benchmarks you don't do anything when it starts running.

I have it set to 1 loop - but how long should they take? There are 3 different ones. CPU, GPU and Assault.

If you haven't already, just try running any of them. They are all pretty short, especially the GPU and CPU ones are done in 1-2 minutes.

It seems like they run for several minutes.......I'm just supposed to watch right?

I never saw it end

Yeah, that's how benchmarks like these are. You just let them run the exact same thing for a little while and you get a number that can be compared with other people that bother to do the same thing. You should see in the upper left corner how many times the demo has looped. The game should quit when it's done.

OK - I just got tired of hearing the smae 4 letter word over and over.....this is in the Crysis Benchmark Tool - not the .bat files.
