How about an explanation with those links.
EDIT: Or I guess I can just download it and find out what it is... :p
Its a PDF file titled "NVIDIA Physx Reviewer's Guide" and it seems like a pretty comprehensive overview of what Physx on the GPU is all about.
I found one interesting bit of info so far:
Delivering physics in games is no easy task. PhysX technology is an extremely
compute-intensive environment based on a unique set of physics algorithms that
require tremendous amounts of simultaneous mathematical and logical calculations.

This is where NVIDIA GeForce
processors come in. With the NVIDIA GeForce
177.79 driver, GeForce 8, 9, and GTX200 Series graphics processors become
physics processors too. A driver supporting PhysX on these products will be made
public by August 12, 2008.

The same day 4870x2 is released. Who'da thunk it?

Hmm... there are some canned benchmark charts in the PDF and this is listed with them...
Benchmark configuration:
CPU Intel QX9650
®
790i SLI
Motherboard nForce
NVIDIA GPU driver v177.76
NVIDIA PhysX driver v8.07.18
AMD GPU driver Cat 8.7
Memory 2GB DDR2
Sound card (driver) Integrated
Network card Integrated
Operating system Windows Vista 32 SP1
That driver is already available and judging from the feedback people are posting, it isn't too impressive.
They don't say if that is the one that is officially released on the 12th or not though.

I haven't seen issues with having that installed, but I don't really know what to even test it with. Hopefully the reviewers will be able to point out where it makes a difference.
1. will this actually help game performance?
2. do i need SLi or another vid card to tap into this?
those are my only questions.
