weird, first time i come across it, old 939 nforce board didn't have that issue, also none of other PCs in the house got that issue, only the ATI board

oh another problem to add to list, HTPC won't go to sleep.

when I enter "sleep" monitors goes off, keyboard and mouse is unresponsive, but entire PC stays on, fans spining, optical drive working.

i miss my 939 socket nforce board.
Mine actually started doing that a few months ago, but only sometimes. When I put it to sleep the monitor shuts off, keyboard/mouse shut off, but all fans goto 100%. Really annoying. And it's basically locks up there, can't wake it up or anything. I tried for hours to fix it....no such luck. I have to hard reset it everytime.

So now that I'm outta college and Christmas is two weeks away, I was going to have some extra time to work on my HTPC. I had a really great idea too: Having my HTPC as my classic video game arcade machine. I was going to purchase GTA4 for the PC but I wanted to get the 360 controller for windows to play it with. Why not just use it for classic games too? :D

I've got emulators for NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast (most of this doesn't even work = LAME), and MAME (same for this one). Great idea or what?

Trying anything different than what I mentioned? I just want to be able to play any classic game I want . . . . but I really want to get MAME to work. I've tried a few MAME emulators but for some reason, they won't pick up my ROMs (zip files under mame32/roms). WTF?

Finally got a few MAME ROMs to work . . . just NFL Blitz won't work . . . :(

I did however get Blitz for the N64 and a few games like Zelda, Mario and others that are hard to find. ;)

After looking most of the day today at MAME and different emulator options, I found a small company that sells MAME ROM sets for pretty cheap. This includes the games I was looking for in the first place: NFL Blitz, Area 51, etc. I just emailed the guy with a few questions and may purchase the DVDs here soon. I'll let you know what I decide, PM me if you want the link.

I haven't ordered the MAME games yet (may split the cost with a co-worker) but I did buy a cheap Logitech controller for my HTPC and played some Blitz 2000 on my big screen. :D

Next, time to try some Punch Out lol.

I'm not buying into Blu-Ray for a while, while the video quality rocks, I don't feel the need to spend $150 for a drive and get a Netflix account . . . DVD rips still look good in 720p ;)

Got a guy at work who has 5,000 MAME games and is going to bring them tomorrow. The one game that doesn't work for him that we both want is NFL Blitz!!! :( We are seriously thinking about purchasing the MAME games and splitting the cost. :D

Wow, that's a great price dude. I'll wait until the movie prices drop and DVD starts going away.

Does anyone know a good free front end program that will manage any emulators? I found a pay one that is really awesome but I'm not paying for it.

i usually never buy movies anymore, that what netflix is for.

I had tons of VHS movies, then I started buying Tons of DVDs. Some DVDs that I bought I already had on VHS. Threw out all VHS tapes. Sooner or later DVDs will follow.

I don't really know anything about emulators, but if you have one that functions as a dashboard (not 100% sure what that means....just saying what I read somewhere a while ago) you can run them through XBMC. Just put them in the emulators folder.

That's all I know really. Do a search for XBMC + dashboard emulators. Something is bound to come up. Oh and I assume that's what you're looking for? A program that will have all your emulators in the same place?

I just want to be able to select "Emulators", pick a console system and then pick a game, all under XBMC. That way I don't have to exit XBMC to play games and vice versa.

I did look at the XBMC forums but couldn't find anything minus installing emulators on an actual XBOX.
