The price on the watercooled BFG gts 280 at newegg was $580 on July 26, 08 and now its $615 so not everything is going down.
Prices will fall even more by mid-September.
Crap. I paid $449 a couple weeks ago from New Egg. Oh well. Great card anyway.

This is an excellent deal if you want a 280 and need a new PSU...

Silverstone 1000W with a single 80A 12v rail + EVGA or XFX GTX 280 for $620. You save $60 on either combo.
Alternatively, you can get the same PSU with a Visiontek 4870 512Mb for $455, also a $60 discount.

Well this deal is still on, but newegg has the card for even cheaper when you figure in shipping.
BfG must be cutting the price across the board since it spread to NewEgg now...

Still the same price in Europe, but they are quite cheap now (around 330E).
Tomorrow, maybe they will drop the prices. Isn't the X2 launch tomorrow ?
Is this a hint of a GTX 200b coming soon, or just competitive pricing?
I'm so glad my GTX260 failed on me, I'll be getting 280s now :)

It's a pricewar I think...
ATI 4870 at the same supplier for $264.99 with Grid.
The delta was getting too wide maybe?

They may be wanting to try and rain on the 4870x2 as well since it is supposed to MSRP at $549 and might drop to $499 pretty quickly.
This is the craziest pricedrop war I have ever seen.

poor nvidia have to lower the price even or noone will buy their 200 series. Now when ATI has showed what they go for, and the prices are good.
Brace yourself for more price drops of this nature...
The 4870X2 looks to be landing at under $500.
$469.95 at BB. I wonder if it will stay there.

At this price, I feel th GTX280 is over priced even at $369.00. Needs to be more like $300 I feel.
Yeah, if this becomes a common price for the HD 4870X2 then Nvidia will no choice but to slash prices further.
WOO! I love it.
The GTX260 will have to settle in at $239 now to compensate (2x260GTX SLI @ $480).
If the GTX260 becomes available at $249 or less on the shelf I will get it and drop it into my 2nd PC next to my 4870 rig. (nana2)
Any time I want to test one versus the other in a new game I can! :D

yeah i'm waiting for gtx 280 to drop to around $300 :P
Do it, you will love how the MIN FPS stays way up there on the 260.
Well at least I will get to test that myself now. We shall see. ;)
TBH thought at 60 Hz with vSync enabled I am not getting dips anyway with the 4870. At least not in Grid, HL2:EP2, Mass Effect, COD4 and whatever else I have tried. Must be staying above at least eh 60 mark? But I only game at 1680x1050.

This is good cuz maybe these guys will be smart and not charge 600 bucks agin for hardware thats really worth half that.
You can really build a top end gaming rig for around 2500 now but of course with Alienware and HP still charging 5 grand for same system that costs 2400.
Good times are to come.
