Also you hold a athlete higher than an average person like me who goes to work, busts his ass doing something he may or may not like? Mean while the professional athlete won life's genetic lottery and gets to play a game for 6 months out of the year? LOL! What a twisted view of the world.

You couldn't be more wrong. I could argue with you but this video does a better job of it.

We're not talking about the local high school super-star jock. We're talking about one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. If you think he got to where he was because of a God given gift then you are dead wrong.

Brett Farve was a guy who didn't make excuses, but worked his ass off, and did whatever it took to win. The reason why people look up to him and put him on a pedestal is because they wish they attacked their life with the same dedication that Brett Farve attacked football.

Maybe it would do you some good to show a little more of that determination in your own life. Losers make excuses. Winners probably have just as much **** going on in their life as you do, but the difference is they don't make excuses, they deal with it and win.

Q: Who has the most interceptions of all-time?

A: not John McCain

/Brett Favre's golden legacy despite no Superbowl rings

Exactly.

Most people either forget or don't remember that Brett missed an entire year of college due to a very bad car accident after which he had to have some fairly major surgery. A lot of people wondered if he would play football ever again much less to the level he has played throughout his career.

I've personally met him several times and he is just a normal down to earth guy. Him and Mark Chmura (<--- now theres a real ass right there) used to come into the sports bar and grill I cooked at in downtown Madison every year when the packers still played a pre-season game at Camp Randall and Brett would bartend (well, beertend anyway he couldn't mix a drink for squat) and the only thing that bothered guy was that everyone wanted his autograph instead of just chatting with him like he was a regular guy.

Anyone who knocks Favre either doesn't really know squat about the guy or they're just the type of person who likes to see successful people fail and end up hating them for not failing.

No, I didn't miss it, you're just a bitter human being who can't admit when he's wrong.

Ok I'll level with you on my dislike of pro athletes. I have a problem with the celebrity culture we have here in the US. We worship athletes and movie stars or any one who is really popular. I dislike that. While I like watching movies and enjoy watching sports I keep it where it belongs, in the realm of temporary entertainment. Yet for far to many these days celebityism is everything. We put these people on a mountain and idolize them when they are just average people with a gift of some sorts. Sure they worked hard but so do I. In fact I work a lot harder and it is well over 40 hours a week.

That's it. I just don't like celebrityism.

the problem is, while they may work as hard as you, or put as much effort into their skill as you, their "skill" is much more rare then the average person's, this is why they are idolized. You will not find a single other person on the face of the planet who throws like Favre, or golfs like Tiger, or swims like Phelps.
I think this is the problem with "today's" fashionable screen/singing stars, there is not much unique about them, they are quite plain. And yes, i do hate the fact everybody oohhs and ahhhs over them. Athletes, (and especially the greats) are in a league far from today's actor's or singers whose main attractive points seems to be looks.

LOL! You missed it completely. If you did you would not have post what you did. I already said it takes a lot hard work. I was being flippant when I said they won life's genetic lottery. You are making far more of what I said in order and as usual you come in tell people what they meant.

This isn't even a big deal any way.

Of course it is much more rare. That is why I threw in the "winning life's genetic lottery".

I don't care if no one else throws like favre or hits like Tiger. That is the point. They are just people. They have all the same faults and short comings as anyone else. That is my point.

I don't get why you guys care so much that I don't get all gooey-eyed' over pro athletes and other celebrities.

I really hate it when someone says that a person was born with a "talent". Like God was thinking "hey, I'm going to grace this human being with the ability to bounce a round orange object really good and throw it into a circle."

Sports, Music, ETC, are not God given gifts. God would not waste his time on such pettiness.

while i do think that some people are "blessed" from birth with incredible speed or hand-eye cordination, 99% of their success is hard work.

of course, i dont think athletes are gods, and i do know that many are terrible people. They are just ordinary normal people who have very rare skills or skill-set.
I dont really care its just that by grouping regular celebrities and athletes together, i think you are being unfairly harsh, bah, just imo.

I think that part of their gift is that they have the desire to work hard in that way.

oh i know you don't. I just happen to be a bit more sensitive about people looking up to athletes.
