View Full Version : So Brett Favre comes to NY
GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Packers have reached an agreement to trade quarterback Brett Favre to the New York Jets, the team announced late Wednesday night. Terms of the trade weren't immediately available.

The Packers had been talking with the Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers since deciding earlier this week that the team and the three-time MVP couldn't co-exist. The Packers decided to move forward with Aaron Rodgers as their starter after Favre announced his retirement in March.
Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, confirmed the deal in a text message to The Associated Press late Wednesday night.
The agreement first was reported by Fox Sports on its Web site.

The Jets just so happen to be my favorite second team after the Giants. This is great. Packers fans must hate the **** out of Favre now.(lee)

Being 38 I totally understand where hes coming from. I'm far from hanging up my boxing gloves. I say go Brett go! I'm thrilled he came back. Screw the legacy, lets go play! The only thing I find disturbing about this is.... he went to the Jets... The Bucs would have been sweet. Another trade....

I have to agree with this.
He'll have to give it up some day, but if he can still play and he still wants to play, he shouldn't stop. Once he does, he'll be done forever. All he can do is make it last as long as possible.

You guys are missing the point here. This was the second time he has retired and come back and he had one year where he said he was thinking about it. Favre has piss off a lot of people and put him self in the joke category with his indecision. His antics and inability to hang up the helmet really jerked around the Packers. I don't blame them for moving on. It is a business and you cannot wait for one person to make up their mind or keep changing their mind.
If he wants to play and still can play, fine go find a team that wants you. Favre brought this on him self. Green Bay was only responding to how silly he was being.
If I have to see him cry one more damn time I'm gonna break my TV. BOOHOO! you got to play a GAME and make millions of dollars because you can throw and object while large men want to beat you down. Shut ur piehole and go do commercials for the next 10 years.

It's the 1st time he's retired.
The Packers are dumb as hell for opting to go with injury prone Aaron Rogers with 2 true rookies backing him up when they're returning nearly the entire team that made it to OT in the NFC Championship against the team that won the super bowl last year.
Shut your ignorant piehole and go back to the P&R forum and crying about Obama.

dude, dont say **** like that.
He got to where he is because he dedicated his life to football, and practising. Same goes for any athlete. If you can throw the object as well as he does while 300lb guys want to take your head off, go for it. You probably cant understand why he is crying because you havnt dedicated your life to something as much as he has.

You are the only person on this board I truly do not like. You are a small pathetic little man. Even after trying to be nice to you, you still act like a d!ck and every post you put up on the PR is about how much you dislike me. We get it, you don't like me, now go f*ck your self and put me on ignore if you are not adult enough to handle reading my post you b!tch.
Brett talked about retirement for the last 3 years. The team got tired of waiting for him and decided to move on as any responsible team management should. Everyone has been making fun of how Brett is really gonna retire this time.

Oh no, I have never dedicated my life to anything. I am only a single father with full custody of my son since he was 2 years old. Try comparing dedication to that and a game.
I hold professional athletes in a very low light. They are treated like kings from the moment a coach sees they have a gift for that game. Don't get me wrong I like to watch sports but I keep it at an arms length and in the proper perspective. It is just a game, entertainment.
Also you hold a athlete higher than an average person like me who goes to work, busts his ass doing something he may or may not like? Mean while the professional athlete won life's genetic lottery and gets to play a game for 6 months out of the year? LOL! What a twisted view of the world.
Brett Favre seems like a nice guy and I respect him but he has pulled this stunt a couple of times. Just retire with pride.
One last note. Brett will regret going to the Jets just to play one or two more years. I listened to Emmit Smith talk about when he went to Arizona for the last two year of his pro career. He said he should have retired a Cowboy and never gone to Arizona. I know many players have the same feeling about the end of their career.

you keep saying like its "luck" that he got to where it is. He worked his butt off much harder then millions of people. You think any athlete is just "lucky"? There may be a certain element of luck, but its slim to none.
What do you mean a gift for the game, in pretty much any athletic career, any "gift" can be surpassed with training. I play tennis onna national/provincial level, and have beaten many guys who have had parents who were athletes, and my parents never were athletes. I dont mean to brag, but attitude and sacrifices (and a crapload of money usually) is what gets you to the top. Genetic gifts are fine, but are not everything.
Professional sports is not a lottery, its a war. They fight to keep this dream of theirs going.
We see the glamor, but we dont see how they got there.

Groans... You are not understanding what I am saying.
The only thing I will reply to is that professional sports being a war. That is the dumbest thing I keep hearing.
This is war

It may be hard but it is just a game. Do you have any idea how many pro athletes are complete losers in life after they retire? Sure they can play a game well but the cannot play life well.

well obviously not literally "war", THAT i do understand, but what you posted there shows exactly how you feel. You think sports is just people celebrating and having a good time?
maybe this is athletes:

stupid athletes and their damn entertainment. All they do is lift trophies.
Cause no one sees tiger playing golf in the rain, or seles playing till 2am. watch some workout videos, or do some research on young junior athletes. Its not all fun and games. Sure its a "game", but its in no way easy, believe me.

I am starting to wonder why you hold such a low opinion of them....

Ok I'll level with you on my dislike of pro athletes. I have a problem with the celebrity culture we have here in the US. We worship athletes and movie stars or any one who is really popular. I dislike that. While I like watching movies and enjoy watching sports I keep it where it belongs, in the realm of temporary entertainment. Yet for far to many these days celebityism is everything. We put these people on a mountain and idolize them when they are just average people with a gift of some sorts. Sure they worked hard but so do I. In fact I work a lot harder and it is well over 40 hours a week.
That's it. I just don't like celebrityism.
