The way I have my desk set up, the mouse is on top while the keyboard sits in the slide out tray. I'd like to have the mouse lower b/c after awhile, my arm gets strained. Getting a larger desk is out of the question. I was thinking of getting a game pad for the left hand so I can put both on the slide out tray. My question is, do any of you guys use a game pad such as the Belkin n52, Wolf King Warrior, Ideazon Fang, Saitek Pro Gamer, etc.? If you do, how do you usually set it up and do you use it for anything other than gaming? Space is limited so I thought I'd try something different. Thanks!

I got the Ideazon Fang and couldn't be happier. Lots of buttons, decent software (since latest driver it loads profile upon game detection, it had to be set manually before) and good quality. I can't play a game without it. It comes with profiles for every major game out there, and it's really easy to add new profiles or customize the included for your preferences. Setup is really easy, just set default game key bindings and the fang changes the key presses depending on the game, simple as this, I don't need to configure game keys anymore.

I have a wireless DiNovo Edge keyboard, and when I'm going for a long game session I remove it from desktop, leaving just the Fang and the mouse. I recommend this device to everybody.

Would be cool if they could fit the Function keys on their too. Lots of games use them, not just for quick save and loads.

Yeah, but the device also emulates function keys, you can map keys 1 to 6 for numbers, and 7 to 11 for function keys, it depends on the game. Or if you need all numbers, you can map the multimedia keys of the Fang for function keys.

I haven't encountered any problem (missing keys) in all games I have tried, even for MMOs like LOTRO there is a key for every action

I bought a N52 years ago and have tried using it like 3 different times. I just can't find a use for it. It's more of a pain and in the way to me.

I got a Saitek Command Unit. It feels more like a keyboard, and it matches my Saitek Eclipse. The one thing that I noticed about all these game pads is that the space bar just doesn't feel as good as real space bar. That said, I'm pretty satisfied with Command Unit, I just wish there was a tab to raise the front a bit.

There's your problem!

Don't drop the Intel! Pick it up and take it to your superiors!

I got the Saitek, which isn't bad, but I wish I'd waited for the Belkin. Even the old one was great.

Yeah, but they don't sell the old one anymore and the new one is 70 bucks. That's too much for me.

I have an N52 that I bought for $15 when they were on sale at newegg a couple years ago. It seemed like a cool gadget but it just doesn't have enough buttons and its WAY too small for my hands. I can only use about half of the keys comfortably and the thumb buttons are all pretty much out of reach because my thumb is about 2 inches too long. :p

The keys also feel very cheap after using a Logitech Ultra-X slim keyboard for a few years. Laptop style keys just feel so much better because they have so little travel. I'm surprised more gaming keyboards don't use them.

So overall, I'd say if you have small hands, give it a try. If you have big hands, don't even bother with the n52. Plus, none of them seem to have the right amount of buttons either. I use every key from 5-t-g-b over, plus the numbers and function keys and some random others for games with journals or team\class switching.

Then go for the Saitek. It's not bad by any means, it's just not as good as the Belkin. I really like the way Saitek buttons feel. The Eclipse II and the pad both have a nice key action.

My main beef with pads is setting them up. I can be a bit of a faf at the best of times.

What OS version do you have and what OS does the wifes PC have?

Dont you have the driver installation .exe sitting around on your PC?

I just updated my Merc mods so some IDZ server must be still running I think.

Otherwise do something like this and copy the ideazon folder over and edit the registry so the ideazon parts are the same on both pc's. Ive no idea if that would work though.
