There was a game/technology demo for the old Ageia PhysX card called Cell Factor. I decided to see if it would work with my new G200 card but I keep getting a fatal error upon launching the game. Anybody else tried this with sucess? The demo can be found at http://www.gamershell.com/download_19042.shtml

Yeah, i tried it as soon as the PhysX drivers came out, but they've not been adapted to work with the Ageia demos yet. AFAIK they will do soon.

Which driver rev and physx version are you using?

I'm using the 177.79 beta video drivers and the 2.8.1 PhysX drivers.

The 177.41 WHQL + 2.8.1 PhysX drivers.

I get a 'Could not find ScriptingSystem.DLL' error.

Isn't Cell Factor the game on the PSN for the PS3?

No, you are thinking of Blast Factor, some odd but fun top down 2D shooter. Cell Factor is a first person multiplayer shooter only on PC.

Cell factor does not work with the currently available drivers. From what I've read is that it didn't even work very well with an Ageia PhysX card.

I couldn't get Cellfactor to launch without error under Vista x64. I had planned to try it. I have had success with Warmonger and Nurien.

If you want to assign an alternate graphics card to do your PhysX follow this fellow's advice-

Will the two cards work only on nvidia boards?

Cellfactor worked great on my machine. And i dont have a phys card. All you need to do is to disable phys-x via the launch bar, via a shortcut, dont remember the command too good, but there are plenty of threads about it on the net, just google it. Also disable clothphysis as it takes too much fps. I got it working on Vista, its a bit demanding but once again i only have a 8800gtx. Its a fun game, lots of physis.

Doesn't disabling the physx sort of defeat the purpose of using GPU accelerated Physx? :o

I will ask again, and I expect a quick reply.

Will the two cards using one for physics work only on nvidia boards?

Only NVIDIA cards support PhysX right now.

If you mean Motherboards , then it works on any no need for SLI mobo .

Mixing the drivers is probably not the best idea...

I agree.

It'd be pretty cool if that worked though.

Thanks for the answers. I was thinking of getting a cheap G92 if there were some titles I would play that could make use of it. I sold my gt a few weeks ago. FFOW is the only game I have that even shipped with physics.

please don't buy into this hype it's not what they say it is.

it'll be years before we see anything that's really mind blowing.

this has already been done, look what crytek did.. they built physics into their engine !!

and it's much better than this PhysX crap !

Actually, you might find that this is a perfect answer to Ageia's controversial approach to physics processing. Nvidia's cards do it better than Ageia's cards did it, and thus are a pefect platform to use as a physics processor.

It may be hype right now, but this really could eventually become something. :)

Yea, and the game runs like crap on 98% of the PC's out on the market today.
