View Full Version : 5800 Ultra owners: Does your card over heat in MB BIOS?

I have here to play with the BFG 5800 Ultra card. Well I plugged it in and proceeded to go to the BIOS start up screen for my motherboard. Well after about 3 to 5 minutes I started getting garbled lines and black blotches all over the screen. Finally after 8 minutes the screen just went black. The card was pretty hot!
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced overheating of the card in the motherboard BIOS screen? If I'm correct the card is running at 500/1GHz with no fan on... Any owner have the same experience?

hmmm... i have not had any overheating problems with my fx ultra card
No no overheating or screen garbling. Also when the fans off it runs 300/600 default unless you overclock the 2d.

How many fans do u have in your case?
The ultra needs a good cooled case for sure.
I had to ad an extra fan in my case.
I also have a small fan blowing over the ultras heatsinks. :)
Mine has never overheaded on any screen. Bios or any.

Well I tried the suggestions from you guys. Seemed the card started showing the signs of garbled graphics during the installation of Windows XP. I went ahead and tossed in the GeForce 2 MX 200 PCI card I have to use incase flashing the AGP gets messed up! Hehe. That card worked fine with no problems whatsoever.
This is all on the new i875P MSI-NEO-LSR board. Wonder if their is a conflict with that and this BFG Tech 5800 Ultra.
