View Full Version : Thinking about upgrading to a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Champ PCI-Express sound card?

What would be the real benefit to upgrading to the all new Creative Labs SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champ PCI-Express version sound card vs. my current Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty PCI sound card with x-64 ram? And would it be a bad idea to put the new card if purchased right under one of the EVGA 8800 Ultras? It would go right under the top card on the available PCI-Express slot. I have some concern that it would get to hot with the watercooled/fan cooled 8800 Ultra in SLI mode. So do you think it would get to hot or draw power away from the 8800 Ultras? Also, is there really anything to gain here from upgrading the sound card to the newer Creative Labs SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champ PCI-Express?

Why would you upgrade, its probably the same card modified to run a pci-e slot.

Do not abuse the forums. Please wait a few hours before bumping.

Arctic is right. There is no benefit apart from the ability to shoe horn your card in when running SLI. If you can already run SLI with the PCI version then don't bother.

This is the delema i was in shuvs.

I think its the same card under the plastic cover as the first pci-ex card that came out last year but with the connection for bay.

Well I would imagine that the added optical input is a great thing to have, and honestly, if I would have the cash I would get it just for that.
But that could be my imagination.
