Warhead release announced

EA announced today that Crysis Warhead will be released in Europe on 12th September, with North American getting it slightly later on 16th September.

"We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers," said Cevat Yerli, CEO and president of Crytek. "Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.

"At the same time, we designed Warhead to be more accessible for gamers new to the Crysis franchise. It is a game with a story that can stand on its own, it has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs, and we are introducing Crysis Wars, a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers within the Crysis universe - all at a great value."

It would be funny if what I consider the best games of last year (Stalker, The Witcher and Crysis) become the best games of this year as well. At least they will become SOME of the best games this year. I have a bunch of money coming in soon, so not only will I be able to buy all these games at release, but I'm also considering getting another 8800GT for Sli. Seems like the right time to do it!

Oh and Games for Windows doesn't mean Games for Windows Live.

They're offering all the effects in Dx9 now, that's what they said. So much for "only DX10 being able to render some stuff"... I've yet to understand why some effects were DX10 exclusive... Pimp Vista?

I stop playing Crysis after the alien appear, and the alien space ship is just a meh, I hope there wont be anymore in Warhead.

The floating spaceship part was indeed a horrible experience. If they did something like Aliens, ie dark corridors with little or no lights, it would have been much better...

Since there were aliens in the trailer they will be making an appearance, but I'm guessing that those levels will be very different from the ones in the original. At least I hope so. The aliens weren't utterly terrible, so if the levels are made well enough I can see how fighting them could become fun.
