While booting with Vista 64 home Ultimate - I have a blank (black) screen which stays for about 30 seconds (or longer) after the green loading bar and before the Vista logo appears in the middle. NO freezing - just a delay. I have seen this on other Vists machines (at home and work) as well.

Superfetch or something else going on?

I had this happen to me when I had my CPU OCed a bit to far. It never crashed but things started to load up slower. Dropped the FSB down a bit and things were back to normal.

This always happened after a couple of weeks of a clean install. Delete the contents of the prefetch folder in windows and it should go away.

Turns out it was my 500GB USB HD. Unplugged it during bootup and the large delay was gone. Go figure.
