My G7 decided to crap out, mouse started double clicking quite often. every 5-10 minutes sometimes even more often. it had this problem for about 5-6 months, but it was rather rare, so didn't bother me that much.

I bought Razer Lachesis yesterday and i must say i hate this mouse with passion. Probably will return it tomorrow.

So what would you recommend?

I always recommend the MS Sidewinder. Side buttons feel great and the mouse performs extremely well. The ergonomics were a lot better than I imagined, and it's my favorite mouse to date.

Gonna monitor this thread, my old mx 700 from the cordless desktop kit is also starting to doubble click... Keyboard is still working very good, ive only changed batteries one time. Had it since launch.

Ive no idea what to replace the mouse with. Maybe a new kit with keyboard+mouse?

How long have you had the G7? From some of the other threads in the past people have commented on Logitech's awesome service. They called them up and told them about their problem, and Logitech sent them a brand new one. I would try that as I love all of my Logitech mice. :D

Didn't they discontinue the G7? What would they send in return? G9 perhaps?

this is my 3rd logitech mouse with double clicking issue, two G7 that started doing it after about a year, and MX600 something it was part of MX3000 desktop set. MX600 had the worst case of double clicking it would do it every few seconds.

like i said above this is my second g7, first one was replaced by logitech about a year ago. first time they replaced it with no problem. called them second the second time when the replacement started having the same issue. first time i called them they said since the problem is intermident it is normal to give them a call later when it more frequent. second time i called them, they asked for receipt i told them i don't have it since i got it from logitech RMA department. tech said that they can't find any record of me getting any replacement product from them. according to the tech technically since i have no receipt, they can't replace it. ****ing bs

Logitech G9. Had the Lachesis before but I really prefer the G9, the "Wide Load" grip is great.

doesn't G9 feel short?

Hmm, I actually don't see anything about it being you're 2nd G7, but either way I guess it's not an option. I'd say if you already replaced it once then you've probably gotten enough use out of it.

@Slawter: "wide load" just sounds wrong

i know they replaced it before, but is it normal for a product to fail for the same reason after a year?

I still have MS wireless explorer from like 6 years ago, it has no double clicking issues.

I love my Habu. It has the Microsoft shape and Razer performance without the flatness that I can't stand. The DPI is plenty high for anything too. I think super high DPI is more for marketing than practical usage. I don't even turn it up to the max DPI because it's just not user friendly to me. I think I keep it around 1600 or so.
