Now that people are posting pics of their brand new 4870X2's, would you please let the rest of us know if you are seeing any microstuttering, especially in a game like Crysis when the fps dip to their lowest levels...
If you are seeing microstuttering would you PLEASE post your mobo and cpu...
Thanks,
rh
ps. Here's some info and a description of what to look for: Micro stuttering (http://www.pcgameshardware.de/?article_id=631668)

You know no one is going to vote for the last one... if they can't see it they'll say it isn't there.

I can't notice any. I did use a 9800gx2 for two months so I do know what it looks like.

Do you have any games where the fps drop below 30fps, with a 30" lcd and Crysis cranked, would be interesting...

True :(

I'm not sure how people will report it if they don't see it. The fact is if they can't see it at least for them it's not there.
Wish I can run the test right now but on my system it would be useless info so have to wait for the Nehalem.
I'm sure the HD 3870 X2 can't be compared to HD 4870 X2 therefore I'm not afraid to buy the 4870 x2.
Some people are also reporting the FRAPS tool cause some stuttering, sure the cause is not the same but what people would see is exactly the same.
The Pool is a good idea but on this forum we probably wont have enough people with the HD 4870 x2 to prove much.

Strange. The GX2 stuttering was horrible in Crysis.

Will try Crysis tomorrow, only have played Jericho and LOTRO. Jericho flies at 60fps with vsync and 8xAA at 1920x1200, and LOTRO only falled to 30-35 in the hottest fight of the RAID I played yesterday. No sign of microstuttering at all, let's see Crysis

Can't wait for your results! Maybe I'll get a single X2 after all ;)

What I mean is by using the 9800gx2 I know what microstuttering looks like and it is not present on the hd4870x2.

I can't seem to change the poll to public, wasn't even aware of that option... Cap, can you change it please...

You can't change them to public. It only saves the names of voters when the poll is public, otherwise its just a tally.
If you want to make a new thread with a public poll I can close or delete this one.
BTW, someone made an accidental vote for the first choice and asked that I remove their vote.
Just in case anyone noticed...

This Poll should DEFINITELY be public as KasuCode already suggested.
Same as 'SH64' already said, I like to see who voted for 1st/2nd options and why.
Now I see 3 people voted they noticed microstuttering without any comments at all.
Anonymous vote without any comments doesn't really help anybody so it looks like who ever placed that vote being helpful was not something they wanted to achieve.
What I like too see when somebody post they noticed microstuttering is as follows:
* In what game or games they noticed the microstuttering?
* What driver did they used?
* What hardware setup they have?
* The frame rate.
* Plus describe exactly where it happen so somebody else can try to duplicate it.
Thank you, Heinz

PCGH proves micro stuttering on the Radeon HD 4870 X2 - http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,653711/Practice/PCGH_proves_micro_stuttering_on_the_Radeon_HD_4870 _X2/
Conclusion: micro stuttering
It's not over, yet. Future drivers might make the more popular games run smooth, but a general solution is not insight. As you can see it is a grief problem. Since why should you pay twice the price just to "experience" the same fps as with a less expensive graphics card? The same thing can be said about the Nvidia solution Geforce 9800 GX2 and all graphics cards that can be connected via SLI, too. The Californians find it equally difficult to find a proper solution.
Since we've tested many games, we can say that micro stuttering occurs in Half-Life 2, Crysis, Race Driver Grid, Need for Speed Carbon, TES4: Oblivion and 3D Mark Vantage. To be fair, we have to admit, it takes such demanding settings to bring the HD 4870 X2 to her knees. But in the future, with new games, the fps will decrease. Not later than that time the problem will rise again, while those who use big screens or those fans of FSAA will have to deal with the problem all the time.

I voted no. I was getting some huge lag on UT3, but turning off vsync fixed it (though vsync didn't affect it that way on my 8800ultra). It runs just as smoothly as my old card, though at higher FPS.

@Ancient76
The first question on my mind is, did you manage to place a vote based on that article?
Second, how many more times you're planning to post that article to prove there is Microstuttering?
This thread is all about people that actually have HD 4870 X2 and for the others to ask questions if they have any.
We already have threads about pcgameshardware hardware findings, care to go discuss it there before we hijack this tread?
