Sure they do. It's called avivo color. You can change the hue and saturation levels. Works very well. Nvidias colors were not washed out at all with my 8800gt. Looked just as good, if not better as my 4850 I have now. Without the avivo color, ATIs colors looked a tad bland to me. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

are you using that card hdmi in looking at you stig i.e 42"hdtv

There's no AVIVO color in the ATI CCC.

There's "COLOR" or AVIVO Video". These are the only two options and I believe you're confused on what they do.

The COLOR option allows you to adjust Gamma, Brightness, and Contrast.

The AVIVO Video option affects video playback only.

And if you can't tell that Nvidia has washed out colors compared to ATI, then you're right beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you might want to have your eyes checked. :p

You may need to understand CCC a little better. Avivo color under display manager, attributes or properties. With hdmi, it is under DTV in my CCC, so I don't quite remember what exactly it said when I was using DVI. One of those I gave you though. It is there, take a look. It is NOT for video playback, that is Avivo Video. My eyes may not be what they used to be, but I know exactly what I was seeing. Like I said, with avivo color it helps immensely. Looks fantastic. But so did my 8800gt.

I've always preferred the default desktop color scheme for ATI cards over NV. IMO, digital vibrance doesn't meet it. Still, after using NV cards almost 3 years running, I've gotten used to NV's colors, and they're ok for me.

I understand CCC just fine, but I just found the problem. The drivers I was using from the CD that came with the 4870x2 was missing this feature. I just installed the official Cat 8.8's and the option is there under the Digital Panel menu tree.

Yes you can change saturation and hue levels for games.

Just to clear up something. I do like ATI's desktop colors over Nvidia, but in gaming I considered it pretty much equal. I do like Avivo color over DV because you have two changes you can make, and with the right adjustments it looks great.

Some 3D apps, especially in DX10, automatically switched from 1080p 60Hz to 1080i 50Hz and that simply looked horrible. I'd say it's a driver issue.

congrats ;)

Thanks :)

I'm sure that it works for most HDTVs just fine. That would be too big of a screw-up on ATI's part--especially since they advertise it on the outside of the box.

If not, then I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon. The card's only been on the market for 2 weeks.

yea i no what you mean they advertise 1.3 deep colour (x.v.colour) whitch is related to 1.3 hdtv 1080p screens . pc monitors (lcd) do not have this

Looks like not enough people report on it otherwise I believe it would be listed on "Release Notes" as one of the "Know Issues". I guess you also did not bother to get a ticket.
Here LINK (http://game.amd.com/us-en/latest_news.aspx?id=AMD000000033) for the 8.8 drivers Release Notes.

Since you said "especially in DX10", I assume it was not only. In that case I can say, absolutely no problem with DX9, 1080p 60Hz on my 37" Westy which is a native resolution. I'm not going to get Vista till force into it on my Nehalem upgrade so can't test the DX10 for now.

I did a search at AMD Game Forums and found a thread where couple guys had same problem like you but only on with DX10 titles.

The thread is two pages long and it looks like the two guys complaining about it found very simple solution.
Read 'watcher73' post (08/13/2008 07:14 PM) and 'opethian' post right after:"I can't believe it was that simple! Everything's working like a charm now in DX10 for me too!"

About Crysis, 'watcher73' reported another step still needed "Also, Crysis will only work 1080p DX10 for me if I enter the game, wait till the main menu then press alt-enter." post (08/20/2008 06:53 AM) LINK (http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=98024&STARTPAGE=2&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear)

Here picture where the resolution are added. I didn't have to do it, guess this will more depend on monitor used.

slaWter has Samsung LE-46M87BD which is a real HDTV

It still is HDTV monitor, the difference is the outside tuner is needed, since the tuners come with cable box or satellite receivers and in my case ATI TV tuner this was the best choice for me.
It's not a monitor designed specifically for computer use since it's 1920x1080 (1080p).
Now let's forget about the monitor for a second.
And in that case I agree not all HDTV work the same using PC or game consoles, that's why only some people report this problem.

Anyway this BY FAR was not the main point in my reply plus the DX9 use was confirmed by others in my post so I don't see where is the argument.

ok then it is LCD Monitor with 16:9 aspect ratio and many different inputs, it still doesn't make it an HDTV. I know I own LVM-37w1.

edit, btw i'm the only person in my family that owns a huge LCD monitor, rest have real LCD HDTV's. I did ran into issues with few Samsung and Toshibas when it comes to PC input. Even with possible issues, I made a mitake buying that Westy, should have waited for real HDTV.
