President Bush signed an $80-billion wartime spending bill but we will get to control only about $15-billion of it. In other words, plenty of Congressional pork is piggybacking this one! Here the complete laundry list of all the markets those piggies are going to, courtesy of the Federalist Newsletter.
$110,000,000 for the National Animal Disease Center in Ames, Iowa.
$54,750,000 for the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services for the Interoperable Communications Technology Program (what in the hell is this?!?!?)
$41,000,000 for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for geostationary systems.
$24,000,000 for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for polar orbiting systems.
$15,000,000 for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
$5,500,000 for the Library of Congress PA system.
$5,000,000 for State and Tribal Wildlife Grants.
$4,849,000 for the General Accounting Office.
$3,300,000 for the European Communities music listening dispute.
$1,100,000 added by the Senate for the Capitol Architect for the Capitol Building.
$500,000 for the St. Louis Children's Museum.
$437,000 for the Huntington Sanitary Board of Huntington W.Va.
$225,000 added by the House for the Mental Health Association of Tarrant County Fort Worth, Texas (considering how Texans think, the probably need it!!)
and, last but not least...(are you ready for this one?)
A whopping $100,000 for the American Academy of Liberal Education in Washington, D.C.!!
Hooyah!! :D :)
An unprecedented $22.5-billion in pork projects attached to 2003 appropriations bills. Man...Congress will have to raise the debt ceiling above the current $6.4 Trillion if we ever want our bond rating to look better than Enron's. :p
