Best Possible Response, that guy is a retard, anyone willing to say an ATI card runs cooler than a Nvidia Card is a ****ing dip****.

Nothing Rollo has said is incorrect.
Thats not as much of the issue rather than the fact that rollo never has anything to say unless its something negative about ATI. I mean come on, give credit where credit is due. The HD 4870 series is a great comback for ATI considering how underwhelming the 2900 cards were.
These cards scale great with AA even better than Nvidia while offering great performance at a great price. These are things that you will never hear out of rollo's mouth, the only time he ever rears his ugly head is when its to say something negative about ATI.
People like rollo are not what I would call a true enthusiast but rather a Blind Fanboy and you guys that are supporting him like he is your Father or something fall under the same Blind Fanboy catagory.

I have a friend with not 1 but 2 stock air cooled HD 4870X2's in his case that are idling in the 30's and loading in the 60's who would like a word with you. lol.

Edit: it's the 280 that can sometimes outperform the X2, company of heroes being a prime example, the x2 cant handle that game for ****.
But we are talking about the 1gb Single GPU 4870
The only time a GTX 280 will be outperforming a HD 4870X2 is when Crossfire isnt scaling and those issues are far and few in between.
Its really sad to see this place over run by jackasses the way that it has been lately.

Since you don't own one of these cards, how would you know if what he says is accurate? Or are you just trolling Rollo again :(
For the record, my 4870 ran hot and noisy. I used the fan profile "trick" to set the fan at 40% and it was not only obnoxiously loud but ran considerably hotter than K007 reports, Crysis put it in the 80+C range, as did most games. Heck it idled at 45-50C and that's with the fan "trick". Now I also have an Antec case and 2 120mm fans which keep my rig nice and cool, so I'd have to call shens on the "mine dosen't go over 50C in Crysis after 2-3 hours of messing around in it. Fan is @ 35%. barely audible over " report.
The 4870 is no the be all, end all that some are trying to portray it as ;)
If you like that card and it suits your needs, fine, buy one and run it but don't exaggerate to sell others on it :thumbdwn:
No its more like Rollo is trolling Nvnews again. And FYI I have seen first hand how cool an HD 4870 can run with the fan set to 35%, your case must be a real cluster **** because its no where near as hot as what you report.

Bull****, read any review of the card.
Enough name calling, (you know who you are) maybe a vacation might in order here.
I have to say the mods do a great job here. :)

I'll give a +1 to that. Jolly good show chaps.
I don't think NVIDIA will win back its performance leadership this year.

Exactly right. The name calling is the reason why I stopped replying in this thread. There should not be need for it any debate if somebody has a good point. Strangely the name calling gets sometime more tolerated by so called NV enthusiast.
I also believed it's about time 'Rollo' stops his constant bashing of ATI product. ATI sure doesn't deserve it this round.
There are many NV enthusiast on this forum but very few are on the same trip like rollo.
Some people say they like the competition but they posting more like indicate they would love to see the ATI dead.

Death to the ATI!

I'm guessing march from the leaked roadmaps.

I am not making it up. Since rivatuner is working i will post some gameplay temps over the weekend when i get some free time, but the temps for me has never gone above 50C at least on crysis, i have not run this 'furmak' thing apparently it heats any card up and the gtx goes over 100c. It normally idle around 70-80c and the load goes maybe 85c..not much on default fan, but the increase to 35% drops it a lot, idle is around 42C.

No offense m8, I just had a totally different experience with the card :(
Anyway, the 4870 and 4870x2 are good products if that's what you choose to run. To each his own I say :)
My only beef is the trolling and whining about the NV "focus group" members, both here and at other forums. If they note where they are coming from, there should be no issue with them having their own point of view. Anyone who doesn't realize that "Big Red" does the same thing, only surreptitiously, doesn't have a clue IMHO.

It can truly be said few, if any, are on a trip like me.....(kngt)

Alright, then name one individual on this forum who is trolling for ATI. And I'm not talking about those who are a fan of ATI but those who intentionally jump into any and every discussion that puts Nvidia in a good light and attempt to persuade the masses--both on Nvidia and ATI forums--to go with ATI products.
I've yet to see one, and I've looked. Hard.
And don't say Heinz, because I've seen him say good things about Nvidia on occasion. So he doesn't count. He just seems to like ATI a lot this time around.. God bless him. :)
In all seriousness I don't think NVIDIA will win back its performance leadership this year.
Me neither, but it would be nice if they did and with a single gpu based card, not interested in SLI or Crossfire.

So which one qualifies me as an ATI troll, Shocky?
Perhaps it's when I spent over 1500$ on SLI'd 8800GTXs and 680i and built a guide to help fellow G80 owners with their setups:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=85643&highlight=xion+poseidon
Or perhaps it was apparent when I replaced my 2900XT with an 8800 Ultra last year:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1387370&postcount=1288
Or perhaps it's because I'm telling individuals within the last few weeks to go with an Nvidia card over an ATI card depending on their needs:
More VRAM (896 vs 512.)
If it's something you're going to hang onto for 2-3 years, then you'll need more than 512MB[4870].

Quite an efficient troll, I am, by personally lining the competitor's pockets and sending extra business their way.
What's funny is that I haven't changed my core perspective one bit in the last two years I have been on this forum. I haven't clinged to one company or the other--have owned both Nvidia and ATI products and have spoken on behalf of both while focusing on FACTS, not fanboy-driven "feelings" as the focus of my replies. So if individuals like yourself take offense to that by foolishly and inaccurately calling me a troll, then I would say that it's YOU, not I, who needs to look in the mirror and re-examine yourself to see if such a fragile ego can withstand a personality like mine.
Good luck with that bit of self-discovery.
By the way, how's razor doing? He finally got himself banned from Rage3D, I saw.
