Nice! That will be a nice rig.

Do me a favor and let me know how the 9800gtx+ runs. I am looking at getting one.

Will do! I got the 9800 GTX+ because it has no heat issues and runs real cool and was pretty freakin' cheap!

With the paging file off...Windows is gliding on silk!

If I can get an Extreme Core 2 for cheap, I'll try and buy one for the +2 more cores.

Eh, the extreme is just a waste of money. Get a q6600 and OC it with a decent cooler, or water cooling.

The Extreme is a waste of money, unless you can get it for around $500. It does have better transistors and made from better parts though. It's like memory and value memory, they're about the same...but one made from better parts.

Nothing beats the Zalman fan with Arctic Silver 5. It runs real cool. 25 C on idle, 35 C on load! It'll run even cooler with the new 9800 GTX+ since the GPU will offload a lot of the tasks on it.

I don't think there's any difference between the transistors in an extreme and the ones in a standard CPU.

The Extremes just have unlocked multipliers. If you have decent ram and a motherboard that can take over 400Mhz FSB, you shouldn't need an extreme.

Thanks, I'll forget about the Extreme then.

Thanks for the positive feedback on my rig!

I'm trying to make it the ultimate gaming rig on a budget! Little by little, I've replaced almost everything.

The temperature in my case went down some with the new card. Runs much cooler than the 7800 GTX. What was the 7800 GTX made on I wonder? 90nm?

Something that can be learned about on wikipedia. :D

What is DisplayPort?

It's like HDMI for monitors. It supports a billion colors as opposed to 24 million with DVI.

Crap, I dropped my mouse today on the floor from about 2 feet up.

I don't know if I damaged anything. It seems to work fine so far.

Should I exchange it before the 30 days are up?

Shake it.

If nothing rattles abnormally and the buttons don't make any extra clicks, you're probably fine.

Everything seems ok. I am getting the mouse jumping problem when stuff finishes loading though, like webpages and stuff. It doesn't happen on my other mousepad though. I guess it's just the mouse + mousepad.

Ok I just fixed it! I removed the 2 layers of sticker around the lens of the mouse. Now it no longer jerks or jumps and tracks much better. Guess it was raising the mouse off the pad a bit.
