You must have smoked one ****ed up rock of crack my friend.
The 2008 team hasn't even won the gold medal yet.
The 1992 team would annihilate the 2008 team. Every single player on the 1992 team was a LEGEND, not just a great player. Jordan, Bird, Magic, Stockton, Malone, Barkley, Robinson.... these are the greatest players in the history of the NBA. 2008 has Kobe, LeBron (who has yet to prove himself) and that's it as far as legends go.
Magic was already retired. Bird was 1 year out from retiring. I'd take Chris Paul over Stockton any day. And I have already stated that the down low crew of the 1992 team was better.
And whats this about Lebron James failing to prove himself? He carries an entire team on his back every NBA game he plays. He is an All NBA First Team player. All Star every year(except for rookie). He just won MVP of the All Star Game this year. What more do you want? An NBA MVP? Sorry, but TEAMS win NBA MVP for the player. Not individual players themselves. I thought you knew better than that.

rofl tygerwoody, you are ludicrious
here is the dream team's record in the seeding stage:
116-48 127-83 103-70 122-81 111-68
And here it is in the knockout stage
115-77 127-76 117-85
rofl they beat teams by an average of 40 points. The 2008 team struggles to beat a team by 30.
Wow, now you are really just digging for garbage. I guess thats typical of someone with a losing argument. Please compare the competition that the US had in 1992 vs. now. WNBA teams could beat some of the foreign 1992 Olympic teams. In present time however, all of the teams are VERY good. There isn't even a comparison. If anything you are helping my arguement because the 1992 Team basically beat up school girls large margin, while the 2008 team is winning against NBA caliber players by a large margin.
"Struggles to beat a team by 30". :rofl lol you're a joke.

Tyger I must respectfully disagree with your assessment. Despite Magic & Bird being out of their prime "years" they were not out of their game. Bird was still a great offensive weapon and Magic was an amazing team player that could feed the ball to just about anyone (and could still shoot). The players you see on the 1992 team also have the benefit of a truckloads of game wisdom and cooler heads. The "leaders" on the 2008 team are a bunch of primma dona's that care more about their personal stats then about winning as a team.
As such we'll never know, we can all give our own perspective on the matter; chances are it isn't going to change someone's opinion, we might as well be arguing the why's of the universe as we'll get just as far in such a discussion.

I agree with most of what you said. About the only thing I disagree with is the 2008 team caring about personal stats, when I believe it is very much the opposite.
However, as you said, We aren't going to change each others opinions. I like my 2008 USA team and believe they are the best team ever put together. But, I can see how someone would see otherwise. I entered this thread knowing I would have a minority belief. And thats "ok" with me. I think I have followed the game well enough and long enough to be entitled to my own opinion. :)
Anyway. This was fun.

The 92 team is better at every point. Jordan would be on the point guard on defense. Wade would be shut down.
Christ Paul over Stockton? Come on. You are just screwing with us aren't you?
Of course we are not going to change each other's minds. The number of people that would agree with you can fit in your jock strap and even that one guy's arms and legs would be sticking out. :D
Not only are you wrong but you are insane for even bringing this up. I talked to a bunch of people about this and they all laughed. They didn't argue the point against you. They just laughed and that was it.

Isn't Stockton among the top 3-4 all-time assist leaders in the NBA? And Chris Paul is better? ROFL. And Stockton was coming off the bench...
There's also something to be said for basketball IQ/wisdom, and there's no way you're achieving that same level of it the '92 team had with this batch of primadonnas we have now. Jordan, Bird, Magic et al never would've lost the gold medal like some in this squad did 4 years ago. And it's because they always played smart.
Coach K is progressively whipping them into shape, though. :)

Stockton is first, Mark Jackson second and Johnson is third.
I said their basketball IQ was much higher than the IQ on this current team.
Here are some stats on the Dream Team players
All time points leaders
2 Karl Malone 36,928
3 Michael Jordan 32,292
15 Patrick Ewing 24,815
16 Charles Barkley 23,757
All time rebound leaders
6 Karl Malone 14,968
15 Charles Barkley 12,546
All time assists leaders
1 John Stockton 15,806
3 Magic Johnson 10,141
All time steals leaders
1 John Stockton 3,265
2 Michael Jordan 2,514
5 Scottie Pippen 2,307
6 Clyde Drexler 2,207
9 Karl Malone 2,085
All time blocks leader
5 David Robinson 2,954
6 Patrick Ewing 2,894
Can anyone imagine any of the forwards on the current team guarding Malone or Barkley? LOL It just would not happen.

A "losing argument"? lol, so far I don't know anyone else except for you with this opinion. I ran this by a few people at work. Here's how the conversation went.
Me: Do you think the 2008 team would beat the 1992 team?
Them: Are you out of your mind?
Me: Oh, I agree, I just know someone who thinks the 2008 team would win.
Them: They must be really young.
rofl. You are off your rocker tygerwoody!

You would take Chris Paul, an unproven rookie point guard who happened to have one good season, over the number one assist leader of all time? You're a mental patient.
Chris Paul isn't even the best PG in the NBA right now, much less better than one of the greatest of all time.
