Nice benchmarks LordJuanlo and slaWter. I trust your benchmarks more than any review site on the net. :)

Do you have any mods or configs installed? The Harbor test did crash on my system as well using CCC 2.21 in DX10 (GTX 280).

Just a note, I had the best results with the 8.54 driver:

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33929301

Crysis DX10 VH 1600x1200 x16 AF 8xAA=31 fps:

1600x1200, 16AF and 8xAA

Beginning Run #1 on Map-island, Demo-benchmark_gpu
DX10 , Vsync=Disabled, 64 bit test, FullScreen
Demo Loops=3, Time Of Day= 9
Global Game Quality: VeryHigh
================================================== ============

Min FPS: 17.59 at frame 1951, Max FPS: 44.70 at frame 82
Vista 64

Run #1- DX10 1600x1200 AA=8x, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 3102

Yes I have quad CF, but that second X2 don't do much in Crysis, maybe it would even decrease perf sometimes.

I'm gonna try those 8.54 betas, will report back

noo AA set in the benchmarktool

butt in ATI CCC i have 8xaa+Widetent=in some kind of 16xAA setting
AF 16X hig Q
adaptive aa on supersampling
mipmaps on QUality

is it good for my system?

8.54 sinīt those older than 8.8 betas or are those vista only?

i see those are the exact same i use sorry i thought it was a whole different set of drivers :D

Nope, CCC 2.21 LVL 5 is faster, *MUCH* faster than Very High DX10.

Just tried it again with the GTX 280 and it runs better with 4x AA than on the X2. Not sure why CCC 2.21 ran like that on my system. All the other tests were much faster on the X2...

btw, how is your Flatout UC performance? The X2 was a bit slower than the GTX 280 with lower MIN frames but otherwise quite good. Dipped into high 20s, GTX MIN frame rate is in the low 40s.

Flatout UC with default 8.52 drivers was average, it looked like second core wasn't working at all, but with the 8.54 drivers it works much better, with 8xAA at 1920x1200 it falls to 40-45 FPS when there is lots of action, but remains between 50 and 60 FPS all the time.

And I have found something really strange with CCC 2.21. I have started playing a normal game and performance was a bit slowe than DX9, but much better than DX10. However, as soon as I reached the scene where you must shut down the radar (just when sun rises after you find your dead buddy), framerate was cut in half, and fan noise was reduced. If I alt-tabbed out the game and back again, framerate was back to normal, but after some seconds, bad performance again. It looked like one of the cores of the card was being disabled inside the game.

With 8.54 drivers it does not happen anymore, Crysis with CCC 2.21 peformance is constant, but a bit lower than 8.52. I will run some full Crysis benchmarks now.

EDIT: I can confirm with 8.54s performance is a bit slower on Crysis DX9, CCC 2.21 was about 32 FPS and now it's 30 (with all antialiasing levels). Performance is lower in Assassin's Creed too, and is cut in half in Call of Juarez DX10 benchmark. Don't like those drivers at all, I hope 8.8 are released soon

Same here, I was testing the card in the exact same location. During my DX10 tests (GPU benchmark, DX9 not affected) it took the driver 30sec or so to use both GPUs when I fired up the benchmark. That didn't happen in DX9 with CCC 2.21 and AA, performance remained slow (1 GPU). Without AA CCC 2.21 was working properly, even in that location... normal DX9 and 10 was also ok, with and without AA. Awesome driver bug that is :p

Good to see it's better with the 8.54 drivers, also the better Flatout UC performance is a plus. But apparently other games are slower now :(
I'm looking to get a refund and I'll send the card back, I have no time and no patience for bugs like that :o

I'm not playing a few weeks with 1080i instead of 1080p because of that stupid scaling bug on my LCD TV. That's not gonna happen when I have a perfectly fine working GTX 280 here.

In my opinion a graphics card is only as good as the driver, especially multi-gpu solutions like the X2. ATI is clearly not ready yet, they don't even have an official driver.

ASUSEN7900GTX

but i think that ATI will come with better drivers and when they do perhaps the X2 will become what it is compared to today when there is only 8.7 and 8.8 Beta.

so iīm sure Ati willproduce proper driver for the X2 and rest of the 4800line but sure Nvidia has an advantage over Ati in driver section

Totally agree

Official 8.8 should be released today or tomorrow (8.7 was released around july 21th), I hope it fixes those strange Crysis issues. Overall I'm very pleased with performance of the card with the included launch drivers, it scales excellent (some games give exact 2x performance than single card) except a few games. And I'm sure performance will get better and better in the next few months. But I think ATI needs to let users edit and create Crossfile profiles, just like nVidia does

Please report back if the official 8.8 fixes those issues without decreasing performance in other games. Have fun with the X2, it's a very nice card indeed. Just nothing for me and my display :o

So slawter after playing Crysis on very high @1920x1080 what do you feel of the gameplay smoothness on the 4870X2 vs. the GTX280 : smoother , slightly smoother , about the same , less smooth ?

Unfortunately I couldn't try that because of that scaling issue I had in DX10. I just ran the benchmarks in that res and setting on the Dell 3007. Never played it on the Dell because it looks bad due to upscaling.

But overall smoothness was between the GX2 and the GTX 280 but closer to the GTX 280. Frame rates where constantly better on the X2 compared to the GTX 280 though. IMO both cards are made for DX9 with custom configs, like CCC 2.21. Performance is great and it's even possible to enable some AA and it does look stunning! Very High is still out of reach...

That CCC mod is brilliant, Time of Day is much more realistic than default Crysis (nights are black and frightening). BTW it looks like official Catalyst 8.8 are launching in few minutes, I have got this (ftp://driver1.cptech.com.tw/Driver/temp/catalyst_8.8_vista_8.522_aug13_br67983.exe) Vista link but it's slooow (around 3 kb/sec)
