I won't get into the argument of whether the 1992 Dream Team is greater than the 2008 Redeem Team. But I agree with Tyger in that the 1992 Dream Team played against a bunch of school girls. I agree with the statement in that the 1992 Team, though full of legendary players, were pretty much untested in the Olympics.
Competition have ramped up significantly since 1992, and the Dream Team did not face a team even remotely close to 2008 Spain.
I think the 2008 team should get credit where credits due.
Basically my thoughts. Dream Team, while good, was not proven at all.
As with all sports, as time progresses players become better. While the "Dream Team" was dominate in 1992, competition is a hell of alot stronger nowadays. Both worldwide and in the NBA. Its my personal opinion that its nearly impossible to compare players of 10+ years beforehand to now. The players just weren't as good as a whole.
Thats not to say that there weren't great players. Jordan would still be fantastic in today's game, and probably still alot better than Kobe. Same to Magic and Bird. I think these guys would do great today. However, I don't think their stats would be as good as they were before.
