What´s about AoC? Is there any performance boost for it (Villas...)??

Well I did one test, 2 quick COD4 benches

1680x1050 4xAA 16AF MSTSAA

177.83:
mp_crossfire - 105.2fps
mp_overgrown - 87.6fps

177.92:
mp_crossfire - 108.1fps
mp_overgrown - 90fps

So there is at least a small improvement in COD4

So how does this compare with 177.73 (obviously ignoring PhysX)?

177.73 is a very good driver IMO and I don't really want to fix what isn't broken.

Haha!
I forgot to take a snapshot, but today something very funny happened
I was playing the "Awakening" level in crysis, when I just decided to grab a frog.
So I trew it away, but intead of falling, the frog went away, like if there was no gravity!
I tought it was some kind of PhysX bug. Well, whatever it was, the frog was there, flying. When it got somewhat far from me, the scenario started to quake and a very strong light came from the frog! (Yeah, that was the alien stuff, but, when I was looking, it seemed the frog was some kind of "Cursed Frog of Doom" hahahahaha).

Well... PhysX boosted speed in Crysis with my 8600GT. But it caused some bugs too. Weapons being rejected and reabsorbed by walls, pieces of planes kicking themselves over and over again, I even lost a Jeep because it started to hit in something repeatedly.

Crysis doesn't use Physx. Also the frog bug has been there since release. One of the first things I found after getting the retail game.

These are a no go for me. Mass Effect crashes with same error message (something referring to Matrix something or other) as it did with the .79 drivers. Sticking with 177.41 for now until Nvidia comes out with a better driver. Also these drivers are not downclocking with the 280 when surfing web pages. With every driver besides 177.41 the throttling of the clocks has been messed up with the drivers being inconsistent in when it's moving the clocks such as either full clocks surfing web pages or when running a TV tuner (which the 177.41 didn't do). Something as basic as this and Nvidia can't seem to get it right. Nvidia had a good idea with the 260/280 in lowering the clocks when it wasn't needed but now is apparently having a hard time getting it to work right.

So... from where did the performance Boost came from?
Ok, the last time I played, I was using the 169.44 driver. Now I'm using the 177.92. But at that time, I was playing with all medium / shaders low settings. Now I'm playin all medium + Textures on High.

So... why now I don't see my fps going down below 20?

And... Crysis doesn't use PhysX?
I was sure I've read somewhere it used...
Bah, who cares... performance boost, yay! :captnkill:

performance boost came from all drivers between 169.44 and 177.92. you missed about 50+ drivers, maybe more ;)

For me, this is the same.

Just ran the Lost Coast benchmark and here are the results

1680X1050 6XMSAA 16XAF

177.83=179.00 FPS
177.92=183.31 FPS

Haven't had any problems with these drivers so far.

Haven't noticed any changes either though.

I was using 174.70 before.

I have a problem with Doom 3 & Quake 4. I cannot enable FSAA in them. Could somebody try them ?

Works fine for me on a 260. Worked fine on .83 too.

Those games have in-game AA settings right? I just play Prey (also Doom 3 engine) and AA was working fine - at least when set in game, I did't bother trying it with the drivers.

---edit---

Whoops sorry; missed that I was on the XP thread and not the Vista one. Maybe those things are different on XP...but probably not...

I have tried to force the AA mode from nHancer, but still no luck :(

noticeable increase in performance for crysis. 1680x1050 2xAA High Settings 45-60fps in SLI Mode. Same goes with CoD4. I use nhancer to set the AA to Combined mode 8xS 1680x1050 SLI looks sharp and runs smooth.

I'm not 100% convinced that AA is working properly with these drivers. I have AA set in-game in CoD4 at 4x and I have AA Mode to Enhance in the NV Control Panel at 8x and it seems to not have decreased performance at all. In the past it had. I need to test this with RS:Vegas and I'll be able to tell for sure.

And yes, I'm back with XP Pro x86. ;)

Not sure if AA is working? o_O
Man, AA makes so much difference in IQ you must be blind to not notice the difference. if it's not decresing the performance but the AA is being applied... u're *************************************** lucky lol

I've been around waaaaaay long enough to know the difference there nooblet. ;)

It appears it is working, guess my 9800GTX handles CoD4 better than I originally though. 16xAA and AF FTmfW!!
