I have a 19" Samsung syncmaster monitor that runs at 1440x900 default rez. If I force 1680x1050 thru NVidia control panel will it dmage my monitor? or vid card?

Just curious......:D

Nope, it will just downscale to 1440x900. It will likely have a mini supersampling effect at best, and be slightly blurred at worst. It will also effectively give you 1680x1050 performance at 1440x900 resolution. IMO, just use 2xAA at 1440x900, and call it a day.

It'll most probably give you a panning resolution, i.e. a 1440x900 window into a 1680x1050 desktop. As you move your mouse to an edge of the monitor, the window will scroll.
