:headexplode:
The DMR-BR30V, which plays both Blu-ray and VHS, comes with a 320GB hard disk, digital and analog TV tuners, a USB port, as well as an SD card slot.
E-Mail Print Do you have a bundle of VHS tapes gathering dust on the top of your cupboard be? Can you imagine a new model of a VHS player witnessing the light of day in this age of high-quality video formats?
If Engadget is to be believed, Panasonic has announced a combo device that plays the VHS and Blu-ray format. Called the DMR-BR30V, the player comes with a 320GB hard disk, digital and analog TV tuners, a USB port, as well as an SD card slot.
Along with the combo player, the company has announced three other media players which do not support VHS, but come with hard disks of different sizes.
Here's the interesting part - these products will only be available in Japan to begin with. While there's no clarity on the timeline, the DMR-BR30V is expected to cost somewhere around $1500.

The thing would be the size of a TV...
Hell, why not add betamax, audio cassette, 8-track and record players too... just in case.

Yeah. But since it would be from Sony you wouldn't be able to record from one format to another because of DRM even though it would tout that ability on the box and in commercials.

That's not really true. A lot of people believe it is due to laser disc being analogue, while DVD is digital. So laser disc can look good, BUT you need the best hardware as laser disc is hugely dependant on the play back hardware.
A good LD system can look better than early DVD, but on the whole newer DVDs look better than LD. The Trilogy being a newer DVD, I'd say just stick to DVD. Especially now with good upscaling DVD players.
yea the pcm analog run at 48hz in starwars lazer disc now the dvd version is dolby ex that runs at 44hz . would love to borrow me mates lazer player and try them discs out.

:D sorry pome spelling type mistake
From what I've heard, the best thing about the LD version of Star Wars is that its the highest quality version you can get without Lucas' "upgrades" in the new versions.
