Yeah I sorta noticed my gaming benchmarks being the same or worse on the 8500. Although I only did a UT, Half Life, and 3dMark01 test. Dunno about these combating the Detonator FX, more like helping it :P.

They fixed my fb problem running perfect settings! Raven shield and SC are a touch faster. 2D seems to be a bit crisper. Rallisport challenge runs alot better!
I will go check ut2003 and BF1942.

I'm pleased so far

I guess I'll try the drivers first myself before I comment on it.

I read that they fixed the esc bug but I've seen some other posts about the decrease in performance in cs over at rage3d

Rob
those are some nasty screens (how hot is your card?)
that looks like ocing errors or heat induced errors.

Its not from mine - its from this thread here....

:) Like i said i cant even get my PC to post with my card in the PC, let alone install drivers lol. Getting a new PSU 2moz though so with a bit of luck i may get it working...:D...with a bit of luck..... lol
They should add a new instruction to the Quick Start Guide for the All-In-Wonder actually.
1) Install card in available AGP Port.
2) Connect to PC's power supply using supplied cable.
3) Turn on PC.
4) Pray.

I read on a big Dutch forum that people who had problems in the past, don't have any problems with CS anymore. Higher framerates and no Esc-bug.
My own experiences are very positive until now. :)
I've just played C&C: Renegade on full settings 6xAA, 16xAF (Q), TruForm enabled and it just flies. It is definitely better than the 3.2 set. Also RCTW: Enemy Territory looks a lot smoother and so does Morrowind: Tribunal and New World Order (which was just upgraded to a DX9 game with the latest patch). Oh and I received a 400 point boost in 3DM2K3 also, but that's not important to me.
So you could say I'm happy with Cat 3.4. :)

OMG!
After installing 3.4's
Half-Life Still VERY VERY BROKEN
Enter The Matrix - Still Broken
Star Craft - The same, 2d anolomys
3dmark03 - no change
This matrix thing really pissed me off, the game cost 50$ F dollers for gods sake.
Im movieng on the the last phase of The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition!!! (Star Trek: DS9 fans will get that one : D)

Well, they did fix at least one thing. All 3D stuttering I was experiencing at 60 Hz refresh with Vsync on is now gone. Considering I use an LCD designed to run optimally at 60 Hz, that is some good freaking news. :)
WTF is up with people talking about HL slowing down?
I play HL at 1280x1024 on my NV20 and R300 with max IQ and 4x AA on NV20, 6xAA on R300 and it never slows down, wheather I am in heavy battles with smoke all over the bloody place or I am walking by myself.
Seriously, have any of you people getting this "slowdown" thought it might be a problem elsewhere?
Hell, I aint getting any slowdown in ANY driver revision I used.

Ok, the esc bug is defintely fixed in HL with the Cat3.4s. However, it takes a ridiculously long time to get back into the game or to press esc to get to the menu. On the order of 2 seconds.
Also, alt-tabbing out of the game is broken now. With Cat3.2s I could alt-tab out any time I wanted. Now sometimes I can get back into the game and sometimes I can't
What you say?
I have tried this at least 10 times.
All times it works.

My experience with the 3.4s:
Uninstalled old drivers.
Installed 3.4.
Launched AC2...
No difference to Pixel Shader or Shadow bugs.
Performance unchanged or slightly slower.
2 minutes later, the screen freezes completely.
Rebooted, tried again (for the hell of it).
1 minute later, frozen again.
Uninstalled.
Reinstalled 3.0.
Plans to sell Radeon ASAP: unchanged.
This was probably ATI's last chance to recover my confidence before I switch back to Nvidia.
Good going ATI, I can really tell you put a lot of effort into this one <roll eyes>

Sorry to hear that the new CATS aren't working for you, but with the constant problems your'e having, it sounds suspicously like you have a bad card, or something is configured improperly in your system.
But I digress, the reason I'm posting is to say thanks to ATI, the new CAT's have increased my R8500BF1942 performance measurably, and I REALLY like the new control panel. Playing around w/ the new color tab is pretty cool:)
I'm curious to hear about anyone w/ "wavy lines." Have the latest CAT's helped out at all for those few people?
Am I the only person without problems?

I've been hesitating to register in here for a while now, to finally make up my mind and join the party :D
Anyways back on topic, based on my own experience I’d say those Cat 3.4 are awesome and absolutely stable on my machine.
But again the only problem that I had with my current Radeon 9500 Pro is when I ditched my old 8500 for this one; at that point I had a severe stuttering in most 3D applications I was running on my pc. Needless to say I was terribly disappointed and pissed as I couldn’t enjoy my newly bought card.
I formatted my hard drive just to make sure there is no left over from old drivers; the thing actually worked pretty well and the villain stuttering was a goner for sure.
Now back to those 3.4, following GIBRO's recommendations I had to restart in safe mode to completely get rid of the 3.2. Once my main drive was clean of all ati*.* files, I fired up the new catalyst set and everything was alright.
Now I score a solid 4297 in 3DMark 2003 on this Athlon 1.35Ghz, and all the games I tried so far show no anomalies or whatsoever.
To make a long story short, I am totally satisfied with this driver set.
Good Job ATi.:afro:

Nope. I don't have any problems here either. But I never had any problems with any other Catalyst drivers.
There are many more people with no problems, but on messageboards you tend to see more people who complain, then people who are happy. (And this goes especially on messageboards dedicated to the competition :p )

Is it just me or is there something wrong with that image? I was just playing "Enter The Matrix" and i keep seeing some really BAD graphical glitchs...
I dunno what are ATI up to? :(

I do not have any problems in half life.. though I keep hearing some people do...
its odd... I had the crashing bug in 3.2's but I just went back to 3.1's
the 3.4's so far work quite well and indeed there is slightly better frame rates in games such as RTCW : MP and MOH : MP...
in HL I have no fps issues.. I still hit 99-100 fps constant @ 1600x1200... also there is no crashing when exiting to menu... but I am with a few other people... menu is slower in navigating than compared to 3.1's
other than that all my other games perform flawlessly as they did before... and my 3dmark03 score went from 4473 to around 4800 something or other... not that I really care... but someone had asked for info so there it is... 300 odd points increase... graphics et all seem on par with 3.1's/3.2's
nothing broken as far as I can see... vice city == works flawlessly... have not got enter the matrix but I have heard of people having problems with it... I hope a patch from the game devs or from ati.. or both will resolve this issue...

thats no applicable, sir. the GeforceFX is having the exact same visual errors. its buggy software.
could anyone keep us posted on when the Catalyst driver supports multi-threading? (for hyperthreaded or dual cpus) -of course, after the customary flaming of me as an nvidiot of course... im interested to try a Radeon product (i have a few dual cpu workstations here and it would be nice to try a 9700Pro on one) but need SMP support before making that move
