8800 GT clocked at 450Mhz

I bought myself a Gigabyte 8800 GT a week ago.
It is supposed to be factory clocked with a 700MHz Core and 1900MHz memory.

I've been pretty happy with the perfomance so far, but while tinkering with the Nvidia control panel I have noticed the card is actually clocked at just 450 Mhz for the core bus and 700 mhz for the memory!

Is this cause for concern, and would it be safe for me to change the setting back to what they are supposed to be?

Those are probably your 2D clock speeds.

When not in a 3D game the card runs slower to save power, create less heat and less noise (by slowing down the fan).

Just wanted to confirm what CaptNkill says

On my GT its always reference speed, but a friends card had lower 2d speed making Gpu-z showing 450mhz core. His is also a Gigabyte card.

It went up ok in games when we logged the hardware.
