I stumbled upon this Vista SP1 update while troubleshooting a problem I am having with Media Center. The KB article can be found at:

Of particular interest is the last line under the section:
Information for advanced users and IT professionals
. . .
Improvements to the stability of systems on which Nvidia graphics cards are installed.
Might be worth a try.

other portions of the update are also good
• Improvements to the stability of Windows Vista SP1-based or Windows Server 2008-based computers that use Windows ReadyBoost technology.
• Improvements to the performance of wireless adapters when you switch between preferred networks after the computer resumes from hibernation.
• New functionality to prevent a data loss scenario when certain registry keys are missing while the Microsoft Disk Cleanup tool is running.
• Improvements to system reliability when Group Policy settings and SMB signing are used.

Vista is ready for SP2. There has been a lot of important updates after SP1 that Microsoft should start working on SP2.
Downloaded it and tried to install it. It told me that "this update does not apply to my system". I was like, "WTF?" So I checked the installed Windows Update log and found I already had this installed. :wtf:
Is this update new? Or has it been revised from an earlier update? How can I have it installed already when the update came out on the 9th?
I'm so cumfused.

Tuesday the 8th, not 9th.
Okay. Tuesday was the 9th here. Either way, I already had it installed, and I don't remember downloading it or anything. Weird.
