I am guessing its more like bioshock...i think i would have enjoyed this game a lot, but i think its a too late to play these...now ><. I hope dx3 won't be confusing to those who haven't played the previous ones.

it probably will be even more dumbdown then second. after the second failed they probably realized that it was still to hard. LETS MAKE IT EASIER.

No, Deus Ex 1 doesn't really play anything like Bioshock. The best parts of the game are exploring a game world that feels "alive" and interacting with lots of NPCs any way you want. Something Bioshock is complete lacking all together.

The RPG mechanics are probably the best implementation of any FPS\RPG hybrid game I've played. Your stats make your weapons and your skills more effective, but you still have to do all the work. Its damned near perfect IMO.

The graphics really aren't that bad either. With a few tweaks and a new D3D renderer driver it looks much better than it did on old hardware. Playing at any resolution you want with any amount of AA and AF is also a plus.

Deus Ex: Invisible War is nowhere near as good, but its still worth playing (especially with the graphics mods that were released). To be honest, it plays more like Bioshock. It strips out almost all of the RPG elements of Deus Ex and has a much less complex and interesting game world. The story is pretty loose too. If Deus Ex is a 9/10 game, Invisible War is a 6/10.

Deus Ex tweaks? and new D3D renderer? links!

I installed Deus Ex about 2 months ago on my PC again, but something is not right, game runs about 20-35fps. It is playable, but should run much faster then that.

I liked both Deus Ex games but they were totally different. The original was a slow pace game with alot of choices which can detract from the story I thougt. The second game tried to focus more on story and forgot to add much of depth to pretty much everything. It was more of a standard shooter then the original.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind this game to play like Bioshock. Maybe add the RPG depth but it needs to be able to grasp the different markets, it can't go back to the originals style and still sell well.

System Shock 2 is still better though, and with the widescreen mod!

Hopefully Ion storm have learnt from past mistakes.

I installed Deus Ex about 2 months ago on my PC again, but something is not right, game runs about 20-35fps. It is playable, but should run much faster then that.

There are new OpenGL, D3D9 and D3D8 renderers here:
http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/

Try them all, see which one you like best. They don't make a huge difference but I think they make adjustments to the lighting\shading of models so things look more up to date.

There is a huge list of new settings (http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/settings.html) for the OpenGL renderer, so you can tweak the game a bit more now. I'm using OpenGL personally.

As for game tweaks, the biggest thing you can do for this game is to go into the deusex.ini file and enable 32bit color.

Under [WinDrv.WindowsClient] set FullscreenColorBits=32 for 32bit color.

The in-game 32bit color setting is for textures only, so the game still looks like a pixelated mess until you force 32bit color through the .ini file. The new OpenGL and D3D renderers may force 32bit color on their own, but I'd change this setting anyway.

Also, always enable detail textures. They make the game look a hundred times better. You can't even tell the textures are low res once the high-res detail textures are laid over them.

EDIT: Also, I haven't tried this but this mod should make the interface look much better at higher resolutions:
http://thenamelessmod.com/downloads/miscfiles/

There are lots of other mods here though I haven't really used any to actually play the game. I prefer the original look with minor tweaks.

There's a scan on the NeoGAF boards (thanks DirtyAllen) that has a teaser for a Deus Ex preview in the next issue of PC Zone magazine (on sale Oct. 9th). There's no mention of it on the official website but I'm guessing they might want to start promoting that soon (cough). They might sell a few extra issues!

Remember, this same company is using the new engine for the new Tomb Raider. If that does good, you never know. This could be great, although I'm not liking story or the elements of it so far. You don't need to revamp old crap, there needs to be new stuff new story.

DX1 best all-around game ever...

It better be. I loved that game. *fap*

The second one was poop! I didn't even last through 10 minutes of the demo in DX2.

God I love Cyberpunk... I hope so much this is good, but I doubt so much it will be. I just don't trust Eidos, especially with the loss of the original team.

The original team was the cause of the sequals **** factor. I hope they give it to Crystal Dynamics. They helped bring back Lara Croft and could do wonders for Deus Ex.

I still could never understand how they could make such a great game, with some of the highest reviews ever, ranted and raved about by damn near everyone, and then turn around with the same people and make that piece of crap that is DX2.

Seriously, how do you go for perfect formula, perfect game, to some POS that holds your hand like you have brain damage through the whole thing?

I have little hope for DX3, but you never know.
